most Yoruba people today bear English or Arabic names, sometimes even as surnames, does that mean that English and Arabic existed before Yoruba? If you see the need to argue, at least be sure to understand the issue first so you can have good points to argue with. The issue here is not who came first, the point of contention is where the name "Yoruba" came from. Did the name Yoruba exist before the Oduduwas came in contact with the Hausa/Fulanis, if yes, are there any records or evidence of the name being used before the encounter with them?

I am not here to support the assertion of the OP, cause I myself do not know the facts. My point here is that your argument of who came first seems kinda off.

Most don't know Yorubas have an Obatala against Oduduwa battle. If we were going to chose a name out of the two, it might not be the newcomer.
