what a wonderful drama to watch! arrogant senators who understand the fact that sanusi would floor them with his analysis, they decided to use frown faces and all sorts to intimidate the guy and ask him to apologize. sanusi! u have done well (in my own view) by refusing to say sorry as they demanded. pls help us pass message across to senate that they need people with accounting, finance or economics background to be in that committee not all those who do not understand simple account terminology of overhead and co.

How can an acclaimed CBN governor be quoting the budget guy under a financial statistical analysis whereby his office was expected to be the prime kingpin on this subject matter. kingpin on this very subject matter.

Mallam!   Mallam!!  Mallam!!!,  how many time have i called you, as you spelling of your name remainth unchanged either from left or right, thats how the level of your uninformed, illiteracy, clownism and incompetence in the office will never seize surprising me.

They thought Sanusi can be cowed by their bloated, corruption-riddled, electoral-manipulating ego, i`m pissed of by those bunch of hardened `CRIMENATORS` that has federal coffers plundering as their past-time.

I guess we see why these bunch of clowns should be paid by their state governments and within their state civil service scale.

There would not be a need for all this clamour to be a senator anymore and whenever they want a payrise the ordinary civil servants will also benefit.

All in all,sanusi stood his ground that the NASS budget accounted for 25% of the 2010 budget.
Omisore is a goat for not allowing sanusi or Aganga to make a counter closing remarks when the event ended.

I agree with this idea, most of our problems in Nigeria is laws and Policies if we can have an effective check and balance system, alot of selfish moves will not be possible.

Come to think of it, what we need is really serious lawmakers not clowns!

The Senators Tore Sanusi and Finance Minister to Shreds, they would not even allow them submit their defense completely before they rudely interrupt them to tell Sanusi that if as a CBN Governor he cannot understand the Budget then Nigerians are in Danger, How idiotic coming from a stank pudge-face mgati maggot. I was so pissed at the way the Senators conducted themselves. Yes it is a Panel but if the CBN Governor says he was reading from figures delivered to him by the Finance Ministry, why not question the error of clariity from Ministry of Finance? Why tell the CBD Governor he ought to know (Okay such things may have slipped past teh CBN Governor's eye) but heck, WT!!>

Senate grills Sanusi over comments on Assembly budget

Making little effort to hide their bias, members of the Senate committee on Budget and Appropriation led by Iyola Omisore, refused to give any latitude to the Central Bank governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi to defend his statement that the National Assembly takes 25 per cent of the federal budget.

Mr Omisore pointedly told Mr Sanusi at one point that the committee was not prepared to listen to him and that he must direct his response through the Minister of Finance, Olusegun Aganga who was also invited to clarify the budget figures of the National Assembly.

Mr Omisore, who led the questioning said Mr Sanusi reports to the Finance Minister who should answer questions on his behalf. Mr Aganga who said he was in a difficult position because he was there to clarify a statement made by someone else tried to explain the various definitions of overheads and how the figures can defer depending on context.

Mr. Omisore who was evidently angry, alleged that the CBN governor had chosen to deliberately incite Nigerians against the Assembly. He then asked Mr. Aganga to state categorically whether Mr Sanusi's statement was right or not. The minister again said the statement depends on which part of the money allocated to the assembly was being considered.

Mr Sanusi insisted that he got his figures from the director of budget's office and that he was willing to apologise if they were wrong but since he had done nothing wrong he has said nothing to apologise for. He urged the Senators to examine the contest under which he made his statement which was actually in a lecture about factors that fuel inflationary trends.

The senators however accused him of having deliberately chosen to bash the National Assembly when the budget of the Central Bank which he heads is more than that of the Assembly.

It still beats me why these clowns have time to be inviting people who say un-complementary things about them for questioning as if there are no jobs for them to do. If they are in the executive branch of government, how many people will they be inviting for questioning?

It marvel while dat deliberatn was going on dis afternoon. Do they just hand pick some dullard to head or part of a committee. For a committee which is a finance setup. They didnt even knw what difference is btw overhead and recurrent expenditure, even the fin. minister was just making jest of them, cos sanusis acctg analysis

I didn't see the show but i bliv NL had performed a census of some kind in the past and found the NASS as the most useless and wasteful government parastatal so this truely is no new news.

By the time the senators have sucked the nation's coffers dry, they will find cause to sit down and reason with true economists.

Sanusi and Aganga, you have the full support of progressive Nigerians on this one.

The fools didn't do any work today. Each of them got paid N1m each to sit and question Sanusi and Aganga to no benefit for the nation. They should account for the N1m each they have frittered today.

The fact is majority of them won't understand even after the explaination. Five minutes of reeling out economic statistics would have them sleeping blissfully. No wonder that Omisore fart said they were not ready to listen to Sanusi. Buncha misfits waiting for the end of the month.
