7 Ways To Making A Good New Year Resolution by cassyrooy(m): 11:48am On Dec 31, 2019
The year is coming to an end in a matter of hours, for many people this transition is remarkably marked by the vigil services in their respective places of worship, while some others see through it in clubs, work, in travels etc.

If not all, plenty people always start the year by setting up agendas for the incoming new year probably on New Year's Eve, or at the earliest part of the year.

For some people too, their targets may not materialize because of setting too many unrealistic expectations while for some others, they fulfilled plenty.

To get started with tips on how to avoid this same scenario in the New Year, the following tips are proffered as a guide, although not applicable to all.

1: Perform a self-assessment test to introspectively know which area of your life needs to change more and draw up priority list (possibly in no particular order).

You need to seriously decide which one is really pressing and which is not because if due diligence is not heeded, the progress made may be wiped out by the more pressing area that needed changing.

For example, if improving your finances is the priority, you need to work on your expenditures and also other ways of diversifying your income stream, else it may tell on other areas of your life such as relationships, savings for projects etc.

2: Reflexively score your performance index and your adopted strategies.

By this I mean, go through your set targets for the outbound year and see how many you achieved within the year, how many are in progression and those not attempted yet. Also, think of the strategy deployed during the pursuit of these goals to determine why some succeeded and why others did not, it will help you mirror causes for failure and reasons for success in the year under reflexive study.

3: Rollover expectations and targets.

You think this is absurd for making the list? Wait a minute, no. Your vision is a part of your being your life, because you did not achieved that in the present years doesn't mean it should be lost in that year too.

Also, as your unfinished businesses are transferred and completed in the new year, you feel this sense of fulfilment when you've attained where you aimed at being, be patient, Rome like they always say, took years to build, etc.

4: Don't draw up expectations you're not really ready to pursue.

When you start penning new expectations, goals and targets, kindly avoid those things that you know you may not freely give an active chase. When you do this, you're indirectly conserving brainpower to focus on those things you so much desire and can work on. E.g, if you can't put in the work in a relationship, avoid it until you can and focus on your career and business. You avoid the unnecessary drama and enjoy the freedom to choose to lead your life the way you please.

5: Know that you can be the distraction and obstacle in your way to target implementation.

People always want to achieve success and much more, but because they don't always follow up and are lackadaisically and nonchalantly pursue those goals, they are impeding and stopping themselves from achieving the set goals. Also, attitude and habits too can infringe on your ability to meet those goals.

6: Start implementation of your goals immediately.

Once you've decided on which goals and objectives for the new year, don't waste time waiting and hoping for the targets to implement themselves, time is precious, don't waste it on frivolous ventures, if it's not contributing to your development and goals, kindly ditch them, focus is undeniably important to early goal implementation and success.

7: Know when to quit on those failing objectives and move on if it's not worth wasting time on.

Remember when you were being told not to waste time on one question in school. Yes, quickly move on if that project is taking your precious little time and start another thing on your list, by doing so, you actually stand a chance of getting more done within the year than being dragged about by the one stubborn project.

Kindly drop your own contributions because the list is inexhaustible.

Happy New Year in advance.
