Before I wrote this, it has taken me several sleepless nights pondering on what to do. I must say I am very confused and would need advice from mature and experienced minds.

I am a 28 years old man. I have graduated form the university and have served. After my service in 2017, my brother promised to get a job for me abroad, I waited till the yr finished, yet no show. The hope continued till late 2018. Due to the frustration, I decided to register for an Msc just to be on d safer side, but the admission process lingered.
Then, a family friend invited me to join in his business pending when I will be ready to start my MSC programme.
Having stayed with him, I got the experience of the business, started saving small money with the dream of owing such business, cos it's a lucrative one. Then boom, the MSC admission list came out this December and my name was there.
I called my parents and told them that I'm no longer interested in the MSC, that I would like to build a biz first then Msc, cos age is no longer on my side, and doing MSC with no hope of job afterwards scares mel. Besides, I'm afraid of being broke again. My parents were against the business idea, saying they cant sponsor me in the business because there's no money. And also cited the importance of doing MSC and all that.

My problem now is should I obey them and go ahead in MSC, definitely I'll be the one to train myself with the money I saved or should I go for the business. And funds for the business is not yet complete.

Please advise me!! Help a brother, so that 2020 will be a fruitful year for me

Convince them about the business, you can always do ur MSc anytime, what if you go for the MSc now and later be in search of work after it, what's the benefit of acquiring MSc without nothing to show off from it.

There is a very high prospect. Just that I'll need a little finance to augment the one I have

Look for money and start the business every other thing will fall into place after that.

What kind of business are we talking about here, and how big is the income per month? These are factors you must consider before deciding to abandon your Msc.

If it's just a business to keep body and soul together, with a monthly income that's below average, then by all means abandon it and go with your Msc.

If it's a business that fetches a substantial amount of income, pays your bills, solve your financial needs....etc, and it's in the same state with the university that offered you admission, then keep the business running, employ a capable hand to manage it while you check in there from time to time, then continue with your Msc. The idea is to use the proceedings from your business to fund your Msc program and other financial needs.... killing two birds with one stone.

Good luck.
