Today I heard that countries don't keep their foreign reserves in a safe. They invest them, mostly in bond markets.

How true is this ?

If foreign reserves are held in u.s bonds then how is the cbn able to quickly intervene in the forex market.

Which dollars do they use to intervene ?

They can sell it on open market since US treasury bonds are very liquid. Im sure they also have cash aswell. You see the how much of each on CBN website.
