Sad news. Twould be great to find the information in the link above is wrong. More important though is those of us left here and the futility of our intolerance of each other especially based on belief systems.

This could have happened to anyone whether Atheist, Muslim or Christian.

RIP, whichever Busayo Awolowo it is.

Did people just start dying today? What bloody lesson can we learn that we don't already know.

Are you not the same terrorist nuclearboy that claimed your god can send anyone to kill in his name and is perfectly moral? How are we sure it isn't you who the terrorist yahweh sent to off bawomolo because of his atheistic views? Hypocrite

This is like an AL-Qaeda sympathizer coming to condole me on the death of my friend. Smh. . .are u friggin' kidding me?
Re: Bawomolo: Any Lessons From This? by nuclearboy(m): 4:45pm On Dec 03, 2010
Tudor, you can't have it both ways (though I suspect in your case, you did at one time or the other get it up the wrong way).

According to you - there is no God. So it obviously cannot be His fault this young man died.

I just wondered what "value" all the arguments, e-fighting etc added to him and considered the futility of it. If that is too much for you to process, sad. I always knew there was more to the CU and your lovers issue than you let on but to know it climbed all the way up to your brain is saddening.

Whilst the news is really sad and it should be food for thought, I just thought I shd mention that is against forum rules to announce the death of a Nairalander on this forum. This thread might be locked very soon.

Shut the hell up there.
Where did bawo ever state he was looking for fulfilment on NL? Did he come to you asking for 'value' to be added to him?

You have in your arrogance effectively labelled it all 'futile'. How DARE you?
He chose to live HIS life the way he saw fit. You are in NO position to consider anything 'futile'.

If you're looking for someones life to turn into a whiteboard lesson so you can gloat in your self-righteous hypocrisy then I suggest you kill one of your family members then start considering the 'futility' of every single detail in his/her life. Rubbish

nuclearboy, i feel u on this as well as the msg been passed here. only an unreasonable person wouldn't want to learn from every situation be it positive or Negative. like u said, it could be anybody no matter the side which u belong to(atheism,theism,deism etc) The key thing here is learning from it.
i will quote mukina2 post on the thread link u gave above

mukina2 on: Today at 01:00:25 PM »:

E- Beefs. E-fights, e-grudges all end someday.
life's too short for senseless fights
this is just too sad.

The above is quite clear enough for one to read,digest&act on it.

ki olorun mase wa ni a dorun mo ³tito

May his soul rest in peace. hes a gentle fellow from few discussions we engaged in even though we weren't on same side

a really sad day for me >>> his unfortunate loss comes at a time when i'm seriously pondering at what irreligious/religious stance i should adopt >>> thing is i still opine that phenomena like death only go to show that we only no so little about reality >>> and that God necessarily follows >>> but talking along Biblical lines, the Ecclesiastes still comes to my mind *it's a very nihilistic passage by the way*

all posters here must note that we aren't castigating this guy b'cos he is atheist >>> we are (or rather i am) using this occasion to mull over life, God et al as we are wont to do when we experience the death of a loved one

@ Tudor >>> you would do well to bridle your tongue

Dont think so sir. cos on the link giving by nuclearboy above, it first turned out to be a news but as the thread progressed, the mods including seun(who contributed) confirmed the news to affect a Nlander. spikedcylinder herself did that
Re: Bawomolo: Any Lessons From This? by UyiIredia(m): 5:27pm On Dec 03, 2010
oh ! the thing called death >>> must it necessarily be ? >>> why not just life ? >>> or why no life at all ? >>> but life and death ? *sighs*
Re: Bawomolo: Any Lessons From This? by nuclearboy(m): 5:31pm On Dec 03, 2010
@Kunle: I didn't know that.

@Toba: We all are God's children even if we hate or deny Him - we (AND BAWOMOLO) were on the same side.

@Uyi: No one thinks we're castigating him. Tudor was born deprived and his belligerence is a defense mechanism to hide his insecurity

@Tudor: You ought have studied at school rather than indulging in affairs with other men. That would have helped your mental balance. As it is, you need help understanding concepts.

How do we know if that really is our own bawomolo from nairaland? Before i believe it will take some convincing.

Like i said above based on what i read on the link by the op, ur fellow mod confirmed it that the guy shot was actually our own bawomolo. If u need to be convinced more, kindly do ur self the favour of visiting his base in America&comfirm from his relatives. This very possible unlike trying to convince u that theres a 'god' which u cant see unless u go to heaven. America isn't 'too' from ur base in UK. ok?

as you rightly guessed i was referring to Tudor's post >>> him

this of course reminds me of something i chuckle/vex at on my own 'experience' >>> people find it hard to come to grips with death >>> i recall how my junior bro (currently 15) even handled himself better than many adults on my mum's death >>> i mean some of the doctors who were her colleagues where praying for hours after her death hoping for a miracle >>> none came up so she was taken to the mortuary >>> then they started praying for a Lazarus style resurrection >>> barring me and my siblings from her the clinic telling us that she wasn't dead >>> that day brings shivers/nostalgia and this guy's death brought it all back with the added sorrow of course that he was a promising young guy

@manmustwack:

Please go through that thread for clarity.

@Sisi_Kill:

why not tell us what is wrong with feeling sad someone died and hoping we'd all try to be more tolerant of each other since we really don't gain anything from our "fights"
Re: Bawomolo: Any Lessons From This? by SisiKill1: 5:49pm On Dec 03, 2010
Tudor will do well to bridle her tongue? Are you freaking kidding me? How about the OP do well to bridle his fingers? If he's that eager to use them, I'm sure there a bird droppings somewhere he can go pick. . . . At least he'll be doing something more productive than opening this stupidass thread.

We all know where he's going with this and quite frankly we don't give a rat's patootie that he's Christian and he's still alive. Rejoice in your "aliveness" and leave Bawo alone. From all indications he lived a good life and he was a happy person. Can we say the same for you? Don't answer that, it's pretty obvious what it is or you won't be trying to use another person's life to learn a lesson.

Nonsense!

SMH at this post >>> it is this kind of nonsense that i vexes me

i would like to still push my suggestion forward >>> nairalanders close to the guy's address should assemble and commiserate with the guy's family on behalf of Nairaland >>> frankly speaking, all mourning will mean nothing without taking decisive action of the kind i have suggested
