Reno Omokri gives historical account of how Arabic is printed on Nigerian currency.

At the time Arabic was first introduced into Nigeria’s currency, BY THE BRITISH (not by Northern Nigerians), in 1912 (see attached photograph of the British West African Pound), it was because the number of Northerners who read and wrote Arabic was higher than the population of Northerners who read and wrote English.

The British also added Arabic to the emblem of the Royal West African Frontier Force for the same reason. The British West African Pound eventually became the Naira, while the Royal West African Frontier Force in Nigeria eventually became the Nigerian Army. The use of Arabic is not an Islamic agenda.

Those who know me, know that I would fight such an agenda tooth and nail. We must as Nigerians learn from history otherwise we will accuse history of repeating itself, when in fact we are the ones repeating history. The Black man must learn to be factual, not emotional. ‪Truth is really not bitter. It is actually people that get bitter about the truth. Nigerians should not be be bitter about the truth. Instead, let the truth make Nigeria better!‬

In this twitter age,no one would ask him to provide factual real evidence that the British solely did it without pressure from any Islamic entity. But nobody will ask, as long as reno says it it's true.
He is feeling like a saint, or is he looking for favors? Gtfo

cool

Arabic is a Language and not a religion, Many christians speak Arabic as their only language, The Bible also as an Arabic version so i see no reason why christians should opose arabic writtens on currency of a country that is bordered with Northern African Arab, and conduct millions worth of trade with them

As it stands, most of the Rams , Camel , Donkeys and some breed of Goats we eat and use in Nigeria comes from Chad, Niger, Mali and even Senegal, and most of our grains like millet, white corn and wheat are also sold back to them

Obasanjo a Christian was the President that designed and minted N200 , N500 and N1000 and he included the arabic insription and translation of the denomination

Below is a picture of Bible written in Arabic, am sure if our Hypocrite Brothers see this now they would burn it

Okay. But now that the number of northerners who can read and write in English is greater, can we do away with it. It's usefulness is no more.

The last time I checked, Buhari and his brothers said there were more competent and educated people in the north than in any other part of the country as a result of which appointments have been lopsided in their favor.

CBN and Nigerian Army should do the needful.

That was then not now,the 3 major languages should be inscribed on the notes.

Like someone said above that's not even among the 1000 pressing issues we currently battling.

Okay ,we have heard but is Arabic by chance an official language in Nigeria? If yes, leave it on the naira note, if not, remove the damn ugly inscription from our naira notes. We don't need it!

The British are the reason why Nigeria is like this. Water and oil will not mix, their experiment was a terrible one. All I pray is for them never to have Brexit, may Germany continue to frustrate them in EU because they truly deserve what they are getting.

On this, I agree with Reno.

In the fight to get what we believe is right, we must always remain factual and present complete truths in everything.
Even to this day, many in the north cannot even speak pidgin English let alone read English. I can understand the need to change it, but i dont see the advantage.
This is the least of our problems now. i bet it will cost a lot of money to change our bills at this point. My people say, leave wettin dem write for moto enter moto (not today sha.. dem go kidnap you o) grin.
The priority should be how this money can get to everyone and not what is written on the money.

Whose person fault that they can't read? Most of them don't even understand Arabic as their leader read and interpreted it to suit their needs.
