Horrible crimes by AFRICOM are not limited to the brutal air strikes and elimination of the African nations, the U.S. military go as far as violent torture.

As revealed by the Amnesty International hundreds of people detained in Cameroon who were suspected in Boko Haram involvement were subject to the most severe beatings, drownings, agonizing stress positions and other tortures leading to imminent death. The atrocities took place at least 20 sites, including four military bases, two facilities run by intelligence services, a private residence and a school.

Those detained were being tortured in the most brutal way, as established in the report by Amnesty International who used multiple testimonies, satellite imagery, photographic and video evidence. All in all, 101 documented cases of incommunicado detention and torture within 2013 and 2017 were committed at the behest of AFRICOM.

A detainee spoke out:

“I saw white men in Salak many times and I heard them talking in English. I think they were Americans. Everyone said they were Americans and we knew American soldiers stocked material in Salak. I saw them running from the back window of my cell, especially in the morning, as well as standing in front of our cell, just where the garage was. Some were wearing plain clothes, others were in uniform. The uniform was like camouflage clothing, green and beige.”

“Nothing could justify the callous and widespread practice of torture committed by the security forces against ordinary Cameroonians, who are often arrested without any evidence and forced to endure unimaginable pain,” further stressed Alioune Tine, Amnesty International’s Regional Director for West and Central Africa.

The revealed evidence does not seem to be enough for those warmongering and exuding terror and violence, bringing numerous deaths to the innocent African families, just the way it brought suffering to mine.

The regular presence of US military personnel at the sites is yet another proof of their awareness that illegal detention and torture was taking place. The scale and frequency of the atrocities committed, as well as the locations of rooms used on site, makes it highly unlikely senior officers were perfectly aware of what was happening. They have taken no measures to prevent or punish these crimes. They are to be taken to justice.
