I don't believe this. Networks don't reassign numbers within a month of lack of activity on it. They block the line after six months, and may not recycle the line till a year later

My sister's line was reassign within a week, I swear. It was her main line, so she had to retrieve it but unfortunately she couldn't because someone else was already using it.

I am also a victim of this their sim recycling. Some time last year,I lost my phone together with the sim cards (glo and etisalat) in keke napep.I tried to retrieve them but couldn't meet the conditions immediately, so I bought another glo line .do you know that when ever there is a particular transaction in a first bank account belonging to somebody that I don't know,I keep receiving the debit and credit alert?. This is very embarrassing. Everything in Nigeria is always below expectations including communication companies.

The former owner of the recycled line didn't contact his bank for SMS alert deactivation. Do you know that I received a text from Access bank wishing one Hassan happy birthday this year?. Many Nigerians don't read the terms and conditions of leaflets of many products or services

I have been maintaining my elder brother's line for 9 years now. I bring it out once in a month, call myself and then use my line to call his line. He gave me his airtel and his girlfriend his mtn. His girlfriend probably misplaced the line and someone else retrieved it and started recharging from the line. My brother got email alert of the recharge , called the bank and his number was removed from his account

There is nothing you can do about it now, than to contact your bank to remove your number from your account.

How do you know a Fulani from a voice call?

Nice piece. I see why I occasionally get calls from strange Fulani men.

That's how I bought airtel line last year from their office, registered the line and went home. Two days later, I decided to register whatsapp with the line, that evening that's how I received whatsapp message.

A guy threatening me, telling me I stole his one month old 2 weeks ago and I even have the guts to start using the phone with his sim.

He threatened me with God, Ogun, sango, Poseidon, Hades, Odin, Amadioha, police, army... dude literally threatened me with everything he could.

I tried convincing him it's a new sim I just bought and was even surprised receiving his message cuz I've not given that number out yet.

The guy wasn't listening, after threats he was even begging I returned his phone cuz he saved for over a year to get that phone and he only used it for 2 weeks.

It wasn't until I showed him the sim card with the number on it before he believed me.

I was so pissed I call Airtel Care Deck and served them their own portion of what the guy served me... still not satisfied: I headed straight to their office and served them deserts.

Imagine if I was caught with such line in public, how will I convinced them that I didn't steal the guy's phone?

Re-assigning SIM is really dangerous.

My brother tell me how it was resolved , because mine is still being used by someone

Ogbeni calm down. This your story get K-leg. The rule is a line is suspended after 90 days (3 months) of inactivity. After the suspension, it takes another 6 months to recycle the number. Then another 1-2 months to get it to the point where a new customer can buy the line.
So this your story of 1 month na burnt dodo!

The person must have deliberately swapped the line or the network mistakenly swapped the line. I've seen a situation where someone went to swap her line and the network ended up giving her someone else's number, the only difference was an 8 in place of a 3 in the number. One misplaced digit can lead to disastrous consequences

When we need our NCC to turn up they won't.
Maybe they should just ban recycling of sim card totally cause it will lead to financial fraud amongst other things.

God bless you, this my MTN was stolen on February, 2 days before the election was postponed, I retrieved it by December and I first asked MTN customer care on Twitter to know if it had been reassigned and they gave me go ahead to retrieve since it hasn't been reassigned

That was how line was assigned to another person and the previous owner didn't change the number in his bank until the new owner used ussd code to withdraw his money

If you've never been wrongly called by Aboki/Hausa who will still keep calling after telling him it's wrong number. You must be very lucky

but this does not prove that he is fulani

we know most core northerners sound alike, so won't be easy to know the actual tribe speaking.

hope you got my drift?

In my own case, the previous owner had borrowed airtime on the line. I was surprised when I got the message that I still had some payments to make. And I eventually did
