I must confess after watching somebody producing a bar soap i tried it on my own and couldnt get it rigth, as easy as it sound when reading ebooks, i learnt it, i was there wen d p.k.o, coustic etc, were poured nd mix and a solid bar soap was formed, now when i try producing mine, d erro was when d soap dried up it was not solid, wen u held it strong it scarters like dust, i leant dat d chmicals were much and i abjusted in d nxt pduction nd i produce again, this time d bar were soft, wen u put finger it will show, the people i supplied it to rejected it dat they were too soft, so when i asked some soap makers they said i should add soap hardner in my nxt production, but bfore i do dat, wat do u think is the problm, nd wat ar d impoqtance of soda ash and silicate in soap making, if omited wat harm would they cause to d soap either of them, wat do u think d problem is, is it coming from inaccurate mixeture of chemicalls or wat, because i reduce soda ash nd i omited silicate in my production.

Too much caustic soda in the first one, too little caustic soda in the second one. Always guage your caustic soda to 12.75, use oil to soda ratio of 2:1, you won't need hardener.

Yes, i think so, u ar rigth, tanx alot, wat about omiting silicate n soda ash in the production, because i also find out that my soap was ligth in weigth.

Try this formula. Take 1 litre of pko and half litre of caustic soda that you have guaged to 12.75, use it to make soap and see the difference. If you don't have a hydrometer to guage the caustic soda, take 2 cups of caustic soda and dissolve in 7 cups of water. Then measure half litre from it. 50cl bottle is half litre.
