Blind Faith in Jesus Christ ? by Nobody: 2:16pm On Jan 25, 2020
"Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy "- 1 Peter 1:8

1. How can we love the one we cannot see, does this even make sense ?
2. How can we believe the one we cannot see, we cannot hear and that we are not 100% sure exists ?
3. How come 99% of Christians are not filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy ?

Is blind faith really faith or just plain foolishness.

At least you've defined a faith that is blind as opposed to claiming all faith is blind as was done in Why Faith Is An Unreliable Way Of Determining Truth.

We live in a world, where we hate our fellow human beings, that we see and touch, but pledge allegiance and love the one we never see.

1. How can we love the one we cannot see, does this even make sense ?
Yes it makes sense. Just like one can love, for example, the person in a far away land who provided the scholarship funds that made it possible for him/her to go to school, even though the person has never seen the benefactor before, but have read about him in a book which agrees with every known reality including the things about the character of the benefactor that can be discerned from the benefits which he bestowed.

2. How can we believe the one we cannot see, we cannot hear and that we are not 100% sure exists ?
We read about this One in a Book which claims to have been written under the guidance and direction of the same One. With the way the Book has been proven accurate in all the ways in which it has been tested, it is rather wise to place trust in the Book as true.

3. How come 99% of Christians are not filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy ?
Please who conducted the research and revealed the statistics? What is the definition of "of inexpressible and glorious joy"? And what do you call the feeling that emanates from knowing that there is a God who created everything, and that He loves you so much that though you disobeyed Him, He spared nothing in making sure that provision is made for you to be reconciled to Him, and that at last you will be ushered into a universe free from every taint of suffering and death?

Is blind faith really faith or just plain foolishness.

Well, I am yet to understand what blind Faith is, but I'm sure the faith Christians possess is not some mere ungrounded wishful thinking such as:
1. The universe created itself from nothing
2. Life, with all it's staggering complexity, arose from random interaction of atoms that ultimately came from nowhere.
3. Etc.

(1) The word LOVE could be applied when you're interested in what you heard about something.
Of course the real person called Jesus live 2,000 years ago in Judaea (Southern Israel), he was a carpenter by profession before he began teaching his contemporaries how the world will become a Paradise. His teachings is far greater than that of any other counselor ever walked this planet, that's why his immediately followers were ready to sacrifice their lives to see to it that his teachings reach all nations under the heavens!

Though he's gone now, but after a thorough study and meditation on his speeches, motivational speakers after him agreed that Jesus was the greatest man who ever lived! That's why many who don't even know him fell in LOVE with this first century young Jewish carpenter from Nazareth.

(2) The word BELIEVE connotes TRUST, logically we all tend to trust (believe) someone's ideology after considering all possibilities of what he said.
Today, politics is the way to choose a leader in the human society. Each contestant is given the opportunity to tell the people what he has in mind and how he's going to tackle the problem facing the people.
The elites after listening to his speech and response to their questions regarding solving the problems, goes home and start talking to their people who NEVER KNEW, SEEN NOR HEARD HIM before to VOTE for him.
You and i know today that out of the millions of voters who often put their TRUST (BELIEVE) in a politician NEVER KNEW ANYTHING about him apart from what they heard from his campaign team! It's this campaign team that will paint the picture that's fascinating before those who don't even know him. Therefore it's possible for people to TRUST (BELIEVE) in someone they've never seen before!

(3) There are just less than 8.5 million TRUE Christians on earth today, the joy they have is EXPRESSIBLE and they are almost everywhere today, that's why they move from country to country, city to city, town to town, house to house and door to door freely EXPRESSING their FAITH. The only thing that's affecting most ignorant people around us is difficulty in IDENTIFYING true Christians because there are many greedy opportunists around milking the pockets of innocent people in the name of Jesus.
So to know true Christians, we need to study what Jesus taught, then easily we will distinguish between TRUE Christians and misinformed churchgoers claiming Christians! smiley

Peter is a first hand witness , and Jesus Himself buttress this point here :

"…Blessed are those who
have not seen and yet have
BELIEVED " (John 20:29).

I believed this passage say it all. and if you still doubt Peter, then why will he sacrifice his life for a lie he preach ?

Peter died a martyr death , he preach Christ the crucified . who rejoiced to be counted worthy to die for the name of Jesus. would Peter died a martyr death if what he preach is a lie, or if he is not a first hand witness ?

Frosbel2,
May I ask you (3) quick questions if you don't mind?

Feel free to ignore as well. Wouldn't be surpised at all... I'm used to that.

Anyhow, the answers to just (2) of the questions would confirm a whole lot to me.
Thanks sir.

1. Are you a "free-thinker", or a Muslim?

2. Are you Igbo?

3. Why are you so enraged with the name Jesus?

Free thinker biased towards GOD as in the one God who we call Chukwu in Igbo

2. Are you Igbo?

Igbo

3. Why are you so enraged with the name Jesus?

I am not enraged with the name Jesus. It is just that Jesus does not exist in the religious vocabulary of my fore fathers.

FYI , I was a 'born again Christian' for up to 20 years before I decided it was , and is a SCAM....

Thank You

I appreciate you answering. Thank you.
Yes, I know very well what Chukwu means.
So you must be a traditionalist, who wants to preserve your culture perhaps?
Igbo really?
I have to admit that I have never heard of an Igbo "free-thinker" or Muslim.
To me, it's 99 percent impossible.
I cannot wrap my head around that.
My disbelief that you are Igbo is likened to you not believing in Jesus...which is truly unfortunate.
Interesting that you used to be a Christian..yet now you are one of the fierest opponents of the faith??
Something happened to you....as I always say when a person fights this hard in religion.
You believe in the God of Abraham, Isaac and Israel yet you reject His Son?
Doesn't make sense to me...
Something about your position is odd...

I may have briefly spoken with you under my former moniker a year or so ago...on a thread.
Can't remember..but I remember seeing your moniker.
Gonna sincerely add you to my prayer list...if you don't mind.
Thanks again for responding.
