Ibrahim Lamorde Back At Efcc, Secret Letter By Waziri To Support Ibori Surfaces by LocalChamp: 10:16am On Dec 10, 2010 |
Ibrahim Lamorde Returns To EFCC As Director of Operations, As Secret Letter Written By Waziri To Support Ibori Surfaces Posted: December 9, 2010 - 23:18 By SaharaReporters, New York Ibrahim Lamorde, the former Director of Operations at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission during the tenure of Nuhu Ribadu, has regained his position at the anti-corruption agency. EFCC sources told Saharareporters that Mr. Lamorded was restored to his former role in a renewed attempt to reinvigorate the agency, which has suffered a credibility crisis since Mrs. Farida Waziri took over in 2007. Mr. Lamorde, who is an officer in the Nigerian Police Force, resumed duties today at the Abuja headquarters of the EFCC on a day that Mrs. Waziri was coincidentally and curiously absent from the office. Saharareporters sources said Mrs Lamorde left after a short visit to the premises. He is likely to take up his duties in full next Monday. The new appointment is coming on the heels of a fresh revelation by SaharaReporters today of a secret document signed for James Ibori by Mrs. Waziri in 2008, aimed at bolstering the defence of the former governor of Delta State against charges of corruption in the United Kingdom. The letter, written to the law firm of Efere Ozako & Associates in Abuja, is dated December 22nd 2008. In it, Mrs. Farida Waziri categorically certifies Ibori and the Delta State government clean of money laundering allegations regarding Wings Aviation and Captain Nogie Meggison, its Managing Director. “From the record of investigation conducted, there was no established connection between Mr. James Ibori or the Delta State government and Wings Aviation nor was it established that Wings Aviation used to launder funds for or on behalf of Mr. James O. Ibori.” SaharaReporters learnt that Mrs. Waziri, just like the former Attorney General, Michael Aondoakaa, who wrote a similar letter to Ibori's lawyers in 2008, was acting on a script to extricate Ibori from the freezing of his assets by the UK authorities. Earlier this year, Ibori fled into hiding on his way out of Nigeria, as the EFCC under Mrs. Waziri pretended to be looking for him. When he was eventually grabbed in Dubai by local police, Mrs. Waziri said she had been working hard with foreign law enforcement on the Ibori file and that she was sending experts abroad to work to have him extradited to the UK. The Metropolitan Police in London vehemently denies any collaboration between it and Mrs. Waziri regarding Ibori’s extradition trial in the UAE. http://www.saharareporters.com/news-page/ibrahim-lamorde-returns-efcc-director-operations-secret-letter-written-waziri-support-ibor

How sweet would it be for Ibrahim Lamorde to take over the reins of EFCC from Farida. |
