when people speak from the comfort of their situations I just laugh....

There was a time the only thing my father used to raise money for the family was by riding Okada. He was not 'an unknown' as you so generously put it. He was and still is a Master degree holder. The Nigerian narrative makes even the most obvious situation redundant....

Today when Trump speaks about his accomplishments he talks about how many jobs he has been able to create for Americans. How low the rate the rate of unemployment is....I ask you again, what business does a Master degree holder have with riding Okada?...do you know how many kids went to bed hungry because of the ban on Okada?....it is only when you have this experience that you'll be in a better position to understand.....stop looking at things from a selfish perspective....try to be considerate.

He’s entitled to his opinion.

There’s nothing good about okada/keke in the Lagos situation and the ban is astute.

Lagos is not the first state to do this and I pray that others follow suit.

As much as I feel bad for those whose source of incomes and livelihood were abruptly stopped. Let safety be our watchword, a clear number of them are not even Nigerians. These ppl are dangerous, some are even boko haram spies sent to monitor and learn the city. If u ever applauded Amotekun, then this should be supported. It's such a horrible thing that the Fed Govt ignores massive pleas about our lack of safety. My only prayers is for a better alternative to come fast and soon.
My dear, danfos are crazily dangerous

I as well have been to many other countries with nary an Okada in sight.

Governance isn't the problem of Nigeria but the primitive natue of Nigerians including those in power.
the citizens of Nigeria are the victims of poor governace. You dont blame the victim.

These keke people were a total and complete Nuisance. They constituted a whole lot of mess in Lagos.

Does Okada ride in Tokyo, Japan, Beijing, Berlin or New York?

Even, is Okada in Onitsha? Why would Okada be allowed in Ikeja the seat of government?

For those saying crime rate will increase, thats unless Lagos state government is clueless and stuppid. Sanwo Olu is smart though as far as I know and a very hardworking governor. You can deny this if you want... But the heavy volume of work going on Lagos roads speaks for itself.

Obiano the drunkard banned Okada in Anambra. Did heavens fall? Rochas even went to the extent of banning keke in the entire state. Did crime rate increase? Was okada not banned in Nnewi even with the rate of billionaire Okada importers from that axis? Did anybody die?

What most of you don't know is that Nigeriens, Chadians, Sudanese, Malians and Somalians took over South West without anybody knowing! It was gradual, crude and definite.... But they were almost succeeding before I believe Sanwo Olu stepped in. At a time, I was asking myself if there is no regulatory body managing these people in Lagos anymore.

They virtually took over Lagos with there stuppid, crazy and mannerless style of driving. They felt like Lords of the city and if you try to caution them, they will bow there heads in foolishness to thank you. But in there hearts, they were calling you Mumu after scratching your car.

What is Keke doing in Victoria Island? Who even brought this useless contraption to Nigeria? India that manufactures these nonsense made moves to regulate them.

Google Indian roads and see how organized keke driving is. But in Lagos, its madness! They will keep on creating multiple lanes that cause traffic, scratching peoples car with no mercy, hitting pedestrians with reckless abandon while using there Okada and useless keke to rob at night!

I ask again, is Lagos no longer a city? Why is there no Okada in Tokyo, Japan, Beijing, Berlin, Stuttgart, Dubai, Osaka, Chicago or New York?

Sanwo Olu if you are reading this, its not much about making these laws. Its about enacting and enforcing these laws! Enforce the ban and see sanity return to Lagos!

Lagos roads have not become worse.

In fact, lagos roads are under tremendous pressure from people trooping in perhaps after having seen what Lagos was and continues to be.

How many Lagos born citizens have you met riding Okada for a living?

They are mostly outsiders who jump on the " I must make it in Lagos" bandwagon.

Why are you sounding so soft in the head this morning? Anyways, may where you are continue to favour you...may you not feel half of the stress a regular lagosian goes through to put food on the table.

Now before you advise the ones finding it difficult to live in lagos to leave, know that we would be happy to at the closest opportunity given. Same way you cannot go back to your village is how my village too is a nono. We all need libration, we all seek a better life...in fact, we kept investing on ourselves to enable that...if only the govt, as well as their out of states supporters like you, are sensitive enough to understand the plight of others! Try communiting to work trekking for two hours everyday in the hot naija sun plus dust street for a starters! Lagos road has indeed not become worst...continue to rely on pictures seen on IG!

The scary ones for me are the Mack trucks going one way or crossing culverts on that road.
Those are the king of impunity. Even on the Lagos Ibadan Expressway ( my place of work is around Dominion university) those quarry trucks are something else, they just face one way because they don't want to go make u-turns that are usually less than 5km

The person making that statement might be igbo. That's how we address our leaders too n you think other tribes r not watching us?

So it's okay for us as igbos to call Obiano a drunkard but it's tribalistic for a person from another tribe to call him that?

you guys make a mistake of putting beauty of environment as priority as against humanity. What happens to the families of the millions that has just been rendered jobless by this small move? Do you know how many children that will drop out of school because of this?

Let's have love of humanity in our hearts first before anything. Nobody will love to do okada or Keke work everyday if they have jobs.

If we are to compare Lagos with Tokyo and newyork, does Lagos have well organised subway system? Are there functional high speed trains? What about monorails and trams? Are there jobs? What about social security, access to credit and business support system?

Bottom line, before the government brings a policy that will in one swoop render over a million people jobless, they should ensure the society is working.

These people are trying against all odds to put food of their table, and the same government that destroyed the society is still the same one opposing them. This Is sad.

Dont put beauty of the state before humanity.

Riding Okada to survive shouldn't have been a job to begin with. The riders are constantly exposed to unfriendly elements of weather everyday. The attendant effects on their health in the long term is scary and usually fatal. That doesn't help the nation in the long run. Okada riding as commercial way of making a living in Nigeria should be banned!

The question is, did government create alternative jobs for the multitudes that are now jobless?

They should go and learn skills, business or acquire driving skill. The ban on okada and tricycles means that Lagos state will need more drivers. It will only take them two weeks. Okada as a means of getting income should be banned in Nigeria completely, its short and long term health issues are far reaching

That is the epicenter of the okada madness, that is where the okada thugs killed LASTMA officials last time, that is the place the okada drivers will cause a mob at the slightest excuse, that is the headquarters of the Nigeriens okada riders in Lagos constituting nuisance from Central Avenue to Kofo Abayomi, from Area B to Wharf Road.

Okada is counter productive to the security and well being of Lagos

What is this one saying?

In the 90's there were fewer roads and even less motorable ones to boot and yet we didn't have Okadas causing a nuisance and ruination wherever they go.

You must be a 90s child so you dont know any better.

Okadas would not be the standard form of transport in Lagos and you have to get used to it.

If you dont like it go to your villa and encourage all Okada riders of your total support to use your community as a rally for testing their rowdiness.
