Juliana7:I dont use to buy from market, most market women are not faithful, they will tell u its broad leaf but when u plant, u start seeing scanty leaves on the vine/rope. I used to buy the whole pods from farmers that i know directly unfortunately I have lost their contact. |

Juliana7: Selected few sell the seeds at Oyingbo market. I had to source for it direct from Akwa Ibom when I wanted to supply my clients last month. |

As you can see, we are doing most of the work by ourselves to cut cost, if you have the strength you won't spent much. 3 Likes |

abilityC:the fuel money u see there is high because the land is so dry, we need to give it enough water, we are not in swamp, we plant on upland but now we spent #5000 for irrigation every fortnight 1 Like |

@Op..first let me commend your spirit, efforts and financial stake thus far. I went through your thread and comments today having seen the topic for a while now and i must applaud your determination and the various practical critique from the house so far. As an experience farmer, I'm equally interested in new farming system however, if such farming system is the common system then it is charitable to point out few likely setbacks. Tonight, i will just point out one based on the pictures amongst three others...i wouldn't want to critique for now... *Irrigation using holespipe........this has proven to be an ineffective and inefficient irrigation system. I wish i had my farm pics, i would have shared such here...but if such is still in my achive, i will share my website link for you to visit. Hence, i suggest you start working on an efficient and cost effective irrigation system prior to sprouting. I could as well observed your planting.... i could not tell your spacial and seeds per hole based on the pics hence, i cannot comment for now... On budget...i think what you've spent on two and a half plots is high...get to work on reducing your operational cost. Finally, i hope your mentor has informed you about the critical aspect...SALES...(leaves or pods??) The success of any business is the net profit. Wish you profitable success. Fish4wealth:it is one acre not two and half, where I mentioned two and half was the seed we were planting on that particular day, thank you I will really appreciate if you can help with cist effective irrigation system, because all this one am using now are for my friend and mentor which I already told her we will work on getting better irrigation system rather than carrying hose around, I will a appreciate if you can help me with your on type if irrigation system picture, though am thinking of getting sprinkler or spraytub but I don't know if it can work with borehole |
Re: Starting My Ugu Farming With My Friend And Mentor by FarmTech(m): 10:49pm On Feb 22, 2020 |
Adamma91:. Ok. I have not seen where borehole was used for 1 acre. So I don't know much yet. But I supported drip because it will save a lot of water. Which ever one u choose I will be learning. Good luck. 1 Like |
