i have been pondering on this after i read about jeff besos and other very rich westerners that you see their wives claiming a chunk of their fortune after a divorce. in the united states it is even used as business. blac chyna is a prime example.
lawyers and other learned guys in the house and people that have experienced this, please tell me if this is possible in nigeria

Yes a woman can claim halimony but the Nigerian judicial set up isn't really in favour of the feminine gender when it comes to such.

Just work hard and pray so that in case of any eventualities, you may be able to stand on your own.

why would the judiciary be in favour of unfair accumulation of wealth, something you didn't work for.

Emmanuel Eboue, a famous player lost 90% of his wealth ( £7m) to his ex wife........ Now tell me how you'll feel if your BROTHER or SON were to be his shoe.

Men suffer in the west what men enjoy in Nigeria.

It's at a point where men who marry in the west are fools given the terms they sign up for.
No woman will ever agree to this with their mouth, but they know they have him by the balls when he says "I do" and signs that evil contract.
Even though I am not into boys clubs, the MGTOW thing is kind of a logical response to the unfortunate realities in the west for men.

Please listen to me.
DONT EVER WASTE YOUR TIME.
END THE MARRIAGE IN PEACE AND START AFRESH.
THAT COURT PROCESS WILL DRAIN YOU FOR YEAES.
THE NIGERIAN SYSTEM WILL DISAPPOINT YOU.
YOU WILL CRY.

JUST MOVE ON.
IF NAIJA IS TOO HARD JUST TRY TO RELOCATE.

It's really sad seeing hardworking men lost their hard earned money to these manipulative women, thanks to our judiciary system here in Nigeria; they weren't too stupid to introduce it to our system

Sometimes the idea of marriage send shivers to my spine whilst reading about broken marriages online.

I doubt if I'll get married, women now only get married because of money, comfort and materials things which to me is unacceptable..... I foresee Baby mama trend taking over our family system soonest, Nigerian men seems to be getting wiser day by day.

You mean you want Nigeria system to be like the West that deny a man his own legitimate earning and give same to his wife that never contributed to its actualisation?

Women in the west also pay alimony and child support to their exes, you should at least Google more on things before hasty conclusions.

How does the west deny a man his earning? How do you know the wife didn't contribute to its actualization? Why are you making it a man thing when women also share her earnings with their exes?

How many women's assets have been shared with their ex husbands? What contribution did Emmanuel Eboue and ex wives of known and unknown figures add to warrant acquiring major parts of their assets? Marriage is not meant to function as a business where women seek for prey with goal of using divorce as a tool to get their 'share'.

I tell you that women share their assets too, your defence is how many? But for men that share, you have to condemn the women, see clear cut hypocrisy, even if the ratio is small compared to men, doesn't it happen? Are the women not humans? The men collecting from these women, aren't they opportunistic platinum digging manwhôre? Didn't they venture into marriage with these rich women for the sole purpose of divorce to claim half of her properties if not more? Don't they also see marriage as a business?

When Halley Berry divorced all her husbands she was made to part with more than half of her properties to the dimwits, one of them moved to Australia with their kid and refused to work because of the huge amount he gets from her every month,

You hypocritical biased schmucks should learn to use your tongue to count your teeth before blabbing, men and women always have ulterior motive in whatever they venture in or choose to do, whether wrong or right, you cannot come here and spew trash when it suits you.

You want a woman to cheat on her husband and then get paid by her husband for cheating on him using the court.

You can move to the West and enjoy that stupid law, not in Nigeria.

Which is why women, being more serpentine in their thinking, generally avoid men who are poorer than them.
The feminine primal urge of Hypergamy keeps that your scenario from being as common as the other way round.
So it is majorly men who still suffer from this.

Women will also fight against pre-nups....until she gets small assets and then all of a sudden she switches her logic when marrying a man who has less. Yours is a perpetually selfish nature free of the burdens of fairness, logic and justice. An entertaining bunch, truly. cheesy
