For the record, my God is not 'in the sky'. And He loves me. Speaking of love, love is not sentiment. Love is value. To truly love someone means to value someone. You don't even have to like them to love 'value' them. God values me, that's why His love is unconditional. That's also why He punishes because punishment helps to maintain your value by building you up. If you make yourself worthless there's no other option except to discard you. That's the reason a human being may be destroyed in hell. It's not about whether God cares about them or not- it's about their value. You want to know about temptation? Darkness is the absence of light. It's entirely up to you to chose to stay in the light- up to you. James 1:14-17
[14]But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
[15]Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.
[16]Do not err, my beloved brethren.
[17]Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.quote author=Ausrichie post=86692718]
Who is talking about no freewill. He created us and temptations, if there were no temptation would there be sin. There may be a God but all he did was to create the world kpam that is all. There is nothing like a daddy in the sky who loves you face the facts. [/quote]

God's love is unconditional but God doesn't love everyone

If you say God's love is unconditional it means his hatred and wrath is unconditional. Those He loves He loves, those He hates He hates

oh by the way God's throne is above the sky

Well you can't blame some of us for the foolishness or ignorance of others. And you provided a context. "When you were told as a kid". Some of the teachings of our religious leaders, sunday school teachers inclusive are flawed. It's disappointing that some of these bad interpretations are passed down from one generation to another. On the subject of Babel, it was the intention of the people to build the tower until it reaches the heavens. I would assume they believed the heavens were the clouds. Now then comes the question of what's the reach of the firmament above us?. The idea that heavens were immediately above the clouds wasn't a truth statement, it was an opinion probably based on false interpretation of existing knowledge or the assimilation of a knowledge which is false by itself. An that opinion has obviously been proven wrong given scientific advancements. Now was that the opinion of God? I think not. Otherwise his status of creator is in question. The bestowal of knowledge is contextual. I believe in the acquisition of knowledge that is the right "size" for our current experience at any moment in time. If your mind is not adequately nimble enough to house a certain knowledge, then you don't deserve it. Of what use will the knowledge of let's say an expanding universe be for a bunch of people running around plucking fruits from trees? Again there are mysteries about God, it's my duty- i odn't know what you believe-to make sense of the knowledge available. Infact some of what we have are just interpretations of Knowledge passed down. The question of how close these interpretations are to the actual significance of "a" knowledge is something we will have to labour to answer.
fyneboi79:
If you were told as a kid about the Babel tower, you probably would still be thinking the heavens are imediately above the clouds. But today science has gone beyond the earth into space, mars, moon still no heavens gate?

God gave man the freewill to make choice, think and make decisions and if he wanted to be overiding the choice of man because he has all powers then he would have made us like animals instead.

(BTW u misspelt “fraternity” in your signature)

Well, man IS an animal.
Where and how u were born and brought up and DNA and your type of brain determine your choices. Yet u have no say in any of those

Regretted is the meaning

And if you check further than that verse you would understand it was justified.

Btw, it was the children of Israel that lamented they needed a king to be like other nations too.

God already had his plan for them but since they couldn't wait he sent Samuel to annoint their choice for them so it wasn't his own choice he regretted on.

God gave man the freewill to make choice, think and make decisions and if he wanted to be overiding the choice of man because he has all powers then he would have made us like animals instead.

God having power over past and present doesn't mean man's freewill and choices doesn't shape what the future becomes just like Adam and Eve did, just like Abraham did with haggi etc

Repent means to think again or to change your mind about something. Most of this problems is caused by translation & shift from original meaning of a word as used by the original users.

you get sense pass many wy call dem selfs pastors, i bilive say na dis freewill mata make satan start rebellion in heaven, because angels dont have it as humans have
All glory to God, but if I must add, angels too aren't robots (Remember God said let's make man in our own image angel was there).

We are of the same make but different hierarchy, what we enjoy is that we are heirs to thrones in heaven.

While on Earth we enjoy the opportunity to create, birth a life, etc.

But in heaven the angels are just the Messengers of God, guardians of the saints (the only thing they enjoy is been regularly in the presence of God, and having that already celestial body).

So in effect they too have choices that's why many angels were recorded to have rejected worship from men while on errand from God.

The reason the fallen angels had issues with God was that they were tired of their job description and needed something else cos they had a choice(the only thing else was to be like God giving order which they wrongly aspired to be).

Funny enough they have been jealous of man kind of life (they came down to do the things man enjoy here)

Lol, man is blessed o (we have level here and are heirs to thrones in heaven too)

Yes the Lord repented not as humans will. 'Repented' in this case simply means in a sorry state or in a state of grieve.

This same statement was also made in Genesis 6:6 when God was in a state of grieve for making man.

In any case God's plan is always accomplished, though he was disappointed but never surprised because there is eternal plan for whatever man's action brings.

Repentance really isn't changing one's previous action but acknowledge what is wrong.
like when God darkness wasn't ok, it wasn't ok for man to be alone. If God was happy with it he would have no need to change it.

when the prophets like Daniel repented it wasn't because they did something wrong

God not pardoning sin as been his nature every since. God doesn't condone rebellion.

God said let there be light and saw, there was need for him examining what he had done. God was judging his own work

and kept working till it pleased him.

An omniscient being making wrong or incorrect decision?

You said you not a believer of God in your previous post, lying to spread the doctrines of you belief? Pathetic cry

I also need an explanation of this. Cos he is a perfect God, why should He now repent?
The Christian God is not perfect
He is like a man
He is jealous, partial, craves for adoration and love so much that he would punish for it, he can be hurt and he could repent.

You are also right.

You don't think again if you didn't think something was wrong, or you regretted it, in the case of saul, God didn't just think again but expressly regretted the deliberate series of disobedience Saul was perpetrating.

When you think again, it means their might be another chance but Saul had no remorse or intent of stopping his ways that displeased God

You are lost
Zooposki:
There are different gods in the Old Testament. Use a Christian concordance dictionary to differentiate.

This is what The Lord said in Hosea 13
7 Therefore I will be unto them as a lion: as a leopard by the way will I observe them:
8 I will meet them as a bear that is bereaved of her whelps, and will rend the caul of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.

Revelation 13:2 King James Version (KJV)
2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.

Meanwhile revelations exposes The Lord as the Beast which gets its powers from the Dragon. Many of you Christians indirectly worshipping Satan. Lolz.

I cannot come and die. Let me be going.

Re: "And The Lord Repented" by brainhgeek(m): 12:21pm On Feb 16, 2020
The word 'repented' as used in the verse is 'nacham' which means to console oneself or to be sorry. The Lord repented doesn't mean He changed from being God because He felt He was unworthy. He is God all by Himself. It simply meant He was sorry. That should explain it.

''and the Lord repented'' How could the Lord repent? What happens to the attribute of perfection?
The clause, ''and the Lord repented'', proves Buhari and that your Lord cannot only be put in the same sentence; but that the two are perfect synonyms of each other.
