Very symbolic, an apt reflection of current realities.

Don't be deceived, those brits knew exactly what they were doing when they dragged us and made us a country, they knew how diverse in culture and norms we were. They did it for their own gain and not ours...
...just wondering why they could not remain in European Union...

That merger was ill-thought out... A country of such diversity should never have been yoked together.

I now see why my late grandfather always maintained that Europeans are not as futuristically intelligent as they often project.
The Europeans knew exactly what they were doing. It was divide and rule. Joining diverse people together means they will never have unity and can be played against each other.

Your granddad assumed that the Europeans had the interest of black people at heart. But they didn't. They wanted easy domination and exploitation.

Why the sudden attacks on Lord Lugard of recent? You people should leave him to Rest in Peace. He is not the one that caused you to loose election.

The Building should rot to the ground as it was a building where a selfish pact was signed to enslave a people of different backgrounds together for official purposes to plunder their commonwealth.

What exactly is the nonsense currently happening that was caused by his amalgamation and subsequent creating of Nigeria?

The problems we have are nepotism, corruption, lack of moral values, tribalism, greed, cultism etc. Lugard didn't cause that.

This same Nigeria was a very prosperous and great country before all the ills I mentioned took hold.

I would have said I pray where his soul is is worse than that but I have a rethink.

The guy may have had good intention not knowing how stupid the people he is amalgamating is. America's strength is in their unity but unfortunately blacks will always have one way or the other being black.

Its unfortunate.
Exactly! Flat heads will always think they are wiser than others.

Lugard never had any good intention from the onset, he only did so out of his selfish interest. The amalgamation was done to serve British selfish interest because it allowed them first take over the North from France. But this's the part nobody talks about and a reason France would do anything to destroy Nigeria because they feel cheated.

The first reason compelled them to amalgamate the lands so that they could rule poor North and wealthy South under one government. All done without consideration of the tribes and ethnicity in those lands, traditional government, language, cultural differences, etc. So, they ended up creating a disaster called Nigeria.

On the other hand, in India, which was already one country before Britain got there, it suited British interest to split the country into three, and they did so by creating Bangladesh, Pakistan, India. All done against their will!!.

The rule of thumb: whatever white people gave you during colonialism, no matter how good it appears, they did it for their selfish interest.

What a pity!

This is where Nigeria was made a power to reckon with in Africa and the world.

The foundation of her power and strength.

God bless Lord Lugard.

Thunder fire you, lugard amalgamated this country for his and only his benefit. He gave no thought to the benefit of the country and her generations to come, just his own myopic and selfish interest. I repeat, thunder fire you and lugard

The north continually rule? From 1999 till 2020 (current democratic dispensation), the south has ruled for 14 years while the north has ruled for 7 years.

Even bad history needs to be preserved. It is the only way we can educate the future and ensure that mistakes will not be made again. Germany has a large museum dedicated to the millions of Jews it killed in the second war.

Never forget, never repeat.

And till tomorrow the Germans secretly hate the Jews still the museum didn't and wouldn't change their collective mindsets about them.

Never Repeat Never Forget

Ghosts of many Nigerians that were killed during civil war are haunting the house, no wonder it's fast crumbling. If you like build a museum, it will still collapse.

If it was America the pen used in the signing, the paper it was signed on and chair he sat on and table will all be preserved in the national archives.

And the United State, China, India and Canada is not diverse shey?

I wish you knew what England did after Rome left their land.

1. They dropped Latin and Greek, which were used to colonize them 1348.
2. They adapted education in their own language- 1362.
3. They wrote their own bible- 1611.

You haven't done all the above, and thus, can't be said to be truly independent.
