DELTA BROADCASTING SERVICE NO LONGER ON STARTIME – ANIAGWU

The Commissioner for Information Mr Charles Aniagwu has reiterated that Delta Broadcasting Service is no longer on Star time.

Mr Aniagwu disclosed this yesterday in his office when members of Charles World Entertainment paid him a courtesy visit.

He stated that DBS was no longer on star time, explaining that it was not the platform intended to market the outfit.

“Before we decide to put them on any other platform which is far better than Star Times, we have to generate enough content,” Aniagwu stated.

The information commissioner stated that the issue of content generation was a step in the right direction, adding that he was happy about the revenue aspect.

“Yes is good to generate content but those contents must be such that is revenue driven in which case you do not go and populate your air time and you are not able to get the value for money.“

Aniagwu disclosed that the management of DBS was developing a platform called SETS, explaining it to mean Sports, Entertainment, Politics and News, adding that thought it would cost some money but from air time through a reasonable contents.

The commissioner added that there would be discussion between the ministry and the industry to understand the financial imperative of the contents.

The leader of the group, Mr Charles Ikenna, thanked the commissioner for granting them the opportunity to meet with him, adding that the group came on behalf of Naija Matter, a 24 hours online platform currently stationed in Asaba.

“Our mission is to use entertainment to project the business of our potential customers in the State adding that Naija Matter has been broken into different subsidiary which includes Naija news, movies, entertainment, politics, Naija voice and event.

“We are here to see how we can partner with Ministry of Information to see how we can improve on the contents people watch in DBS and bring in potential customers to invest and showcase their goods and services in the various media houses under the Ministry,” he said.

Mr Ikenna stated that with the subsidiaries, they had been able to gather 7-11 episode of 30 minutes programme for airing.

Present during the visit was the Permanent Secretary, Mr Paul Osahor; Special Assistant to the commissioner, Mr Power Osiwehor, directors and staff of the ministry.
