Back on topic here: Bottom line is, the validity/grace period before Nigerian carriers cancel and recycle lines (90 days) is too short. It should be at least 180 days of non chargeable activity, before a line is marked for non-use, and then another 90 days of no topup after that before it's recycled.

I've just experienced this today. My account was deducted 1000 naira from a line I had thrown away in 2015. I quickly messaged GTB to find out how this happened and they explained everything to me and restricted my account. I called the person who made the transaction and thankfully, she was an understanding woman. This thing is terrible. What if this person withdrew all the money from my account. God help us
