Is it right (in accordance with global standard) for a University to compulsory chemistry in Jamb, for admission to study science courses. I need science oriented people to enlighten me concerning this as there is a present scenario happening right now in Federal University Oye Ekiti. Those without chemistry in Jamb are forcefully withdrawn from the faculty to faculty of education, whereas Jamb brochure stated English, Maths, physics and (chemistry/geography) as major Jamb requirements for computer science. I'm still in shock and unable to understand why chemistry in Jamb is considered and made compulsory over geography, agricultural sc to study computer SC or geology... Why should there be difference between Jamb requirements and University requirements? All these affect students and I think Jamb and ministry of education need to look into this as it affects people's future. Imagine someone that was admitted to study computer SC and has determined to study the course, after paying over 200k suddenly woke up one morning to hear that he isn't qualified to achieve his dream and was transfered to faculty of education to study agric education.. This shows that Nigeria education system is bad and could only be compared to a destiny killer. I've seen people just with O'level wassce given admission to study overseas but here reverse is the case.
Pls I like to know if there is a way to call Jamb, federal ministry of education and National University commission attention to this issue that has been happening for a long time in Nigeria Universities.

Pls ignore all typos and blunders... I paid the tution fee for him to study computer science and not agric education... Now school wants to change is destiny... I'm seriously pained. I wish we've known this before payment of school fees, he would have picked another Jamb form but now I've checked and I was told Jamb form has closed
Cc: olawalebabs, Richiez, Fynestboi pls can you help move this to front page for further clarification

It is totally unaccepted. Have you contacted the Dean of Student Affairs? What is his/her position on this? If s/he isn't taking it serious then you may have to use other sources.
In the meantime, have you tried reaching out to NUC although, I am not sure they are efficient but I hope in this case they will be. The most important determinant of subject to take is the JAMB brochure and if it isn't specified under other requirements that FUOYE requires Chemistry to study computer science, you could petition both the University and JAMB however, our judicial system still remains inefficient but yours might be different.

Thanks for your response. We've gone to see those Incharge and they said the only thing he could do is to take the course which he has the requirements.. I don't know why they said he's only qualified to study Accounting Education when he has complete O'level result, wrote English, Maths, physics and geography in Jamb with over 220 scores. I just heard today that this same issue affected a boy in my church and he was badly affected to the level he had to dropout at 200l to seek for another admission in a private university. Only God knows how many people's destiny this thing has affected and will continue to affect... My brother said he could count about 12 of them that was affected in his department

Just have it at the back of your mind that education in fed uni is highly subsidized and therefore consider this fact before making a decision.
