Justice Eneji was sworn-in on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at the Executive Chambers, Governor’s office Calabar after being cleared by the State House of Assembly.

Eneji swearing-in came in barely 24 hours after the House of Assembly in the leadership of Rt. Hon. Eteng Jonah Williams, rejected the confirmation of Justice Akon Ikpeme as the Substantive Chief Judge of the state.

Justice Maurice Eneji is a junior to Justice Ikpeme in the bench, who was the Acting CJ before this day.

This is a very worrisome and shameless development. What’s the difference between Cross River and Akwa Ibom?

I remember when we will condemned the governor of Kebbi for not swearing in a female Christian judge as the chief judge of the state. Ayade and the other tribalist in the Cross River State House of Assembly should be condemned and pressured to reverse this silly decision.

If it is the north, the entire south will be shouting and calling for merit. Now that it’s a southern and PDP government that is doing this nonsense, so many people are keeping quiet. Hopefully, NJC will remove the puppet acting Chief judge that was sworn in by the governor and correct the anomaly that is playing out in the state.

It is funny because this same Justice Ikpeme's father retired as a Perm Sec in CRS. This same woman had all her education from Primary to University at CRS.

The Deputy Gov is married to Omotunde Esu (who sint even from CRS) and she worked in the CRS Civil service and retired as Perm Sec in 2016.

The present Speaker of the CRS House of Assembly (Eteng Jones Williams) is also married to an Akwa Ibom woman.
