35-yr-old man kills, hangs mum

A 35-year-old man identified as Yemi, on Sunday, killed and hung his mother at Yawuri, Akobo area, in Lagelu Local Government Area of Oyo State.

Nigerian Tribune learnt, on Monday, that the suspect, who is currently being detained at the Akobo police station, hit his mother with iron rod on the head.

According to sources, efforts to revive the woman, proved abortive.

It was gathered that the suspect had a misunderstanding with his elder brother, Oluwasogo and when the mother decided to intervene, he hit her on the head with an iron rod.

After hitting the woman with a rod, it was gathered that he took her to an uncompleted building which was very close to the scene of the incident where he allegedly hung her.

It was gathered that when he returned, he inflicted matchete cuts on his elder brother, who sustained injuries and was rushed to a hospital.

It was gathered that it was when he started beating his brother that neighbours came to his rescue and took him to the hospital while the mother was later found at the uncompleted building.

Two residents, Alhaji Suilaimon Aderonmu and Mr.Amusa Ogundele, who spoke with the Nigerian Tribune on the incident, said the suspect had become a threat to residents of the area, as he was said to have raped some people including his late mother.
