There are various reason why people decide who to marry. Some persons pen-ultimately decide who to marry based on the fact that such person is a Virgin, or told them that they are virgin.

But where a party marries another, foremost on the ground that such party is a virgin, and it later turns out otherwise; will that be a ground for divorce under the Law?




Matters of divorce in marriage contracted in Marriage Registry are regulated by Law.

For a marriage to be dissolved by the court, such must fulfill the provision of section 15 of the Matrimonial Causes Act.

Looking at the provision, the ground of lack of virginity does not fit into the conditions for divorce in Law.

Except you yourself na virgin, if not why expect what you don't have isn't that madness?
Even still sex ain't the sole purpose for marriage, you must have seen other things you like, so don't jettison that because of virginity

Many a time, virginity is overrated and usually by over zealous religious people.

Women in very active sports loose their virginity due to the sports and not due to sex. So, simple study shows that HYMEN has nothing to do with who is a virgin or not.

Beauty is not based on virginity

Good moral character is not based on virginity

Wisdom is not a virginity clause.


So where the divorce may occur is if the person claims to be a virgin CONSCIOUSLY KNEW SHE WAS NOT and claimed so.

It is a known fact that NOT ALL VIRGINS EVEN WITH HYMEN ACTUALLY BLEED DURING SEX..... so it is something we should look and understand clearly before basing major issue like marriage upon it.
