COVID 19...what You Should Know About It by Nobody: 5:08pm On Mar 19, 2020
COVID 19, a novel virus, has disrupted the world in a way even wars have not done.

Knowledge of the virus is still at infancy, even as there is growing consensus over some issues.

1. It has been established that the virus is HEAVY, and in fact does not stay in the air for long, but actually settles on surfaces like tables, chairs, door handles cell phones etc.

2. There is increasing belief that the virus does not survive high temperatures.

This is yet to be globally agreed upon but very authoritative sources support this assertion.

3. The virus is believed to lodge in the throat of exposed individuals, who will remain asymptomatic as long as the virus remains in the throat.

Symptoms start once the virus migrates down to the lungs where it causes fibrosis.
-----------------------------------------

The vast majority ofthose with symptoms will recover, especially those under 65 years.

Children under 10 years, have an even better recovery rate, approaching almost 99.2%.
----------------------------------------

Most measures of the WHO are preventive, and after that, advice to visit the hospital once one develops symptoms.

There is a cohort I have been harping about.

And that is people who have been exposed to the virus, are currently healthy, but may go down with symptoms at some point in the future.

There is no guarantee as to the availability and quality of healthcare one will receive if he/she comes down with symptoms.

Even first world health care systems will be completely overwhelmed.

It then becomes even more precarious in countries with comatose systems.

This brings me to my main point.
---------------------------------

In pandemics, people employ all sorts of practises to either prevent or control symptoms.

As a medic, I would not advise just any measure as some may actually be harmful and worsen the condition.

However where there is a gap in information, even professionals mull over harmless alternative practises.

The advice I am about to echo, is predicated on two strong facts:

1. It is harmless.
2. The virus does not tolerate heat.
---------------------------

Boiling water to boiling point, and inhaling the vapour (while having a blanket over your head to increase yield) increases the temperature of your windpipe and increasing the chances of the virus dying before it migrates to your lungs where it causes damage.

The more you do,the greater the chances.

-----------------------
Is this proven to work?

No. No clinical trials have been carried out.

Is it predicated on common sense and existing knowledge?

Yes.

Is it potentially harmful?

No.

The only ingredient is WATER.

If some future trial proves the procedure to be useless, remember you have not taken in any harmful substsance.
-------------------------------

We continue to pray for greater understanding of this virus, and that the race for a vaccine will yield results in the near future.
