The second kind is conducted under customary law (Traditional marriage) and can be polygamous as well as monogamous.

It is regulated by the Native Law and Custom, making it completely legal in terms of the law in Nigeria.

Or, you could swear an affidavit declaring that you are married traditionally. It works everywhere except the embassy.

In case like this, how do one go about it.

There has to be a document to show you're married.

While being married traditionally proves you are married under customary law, I struggle to see how you can claim the same status under common law.

None of the above. Use DIVORCE.

Once you have done traditional marriage but yet to get English wedding

You are already married, all you need is affidavit of marriage from the court to back you up on the absence of marriage certificate

I think you should do court wedding to save yourself from unnecessary headache o.

I am sure it's not expensive and all they probably need are two witnesses.

Please where can one get a Declaration of marriage certificate?
His late father(a British) get married to his mom traditionally. Now, he want to apply for British citizenship by descent, but he needs a Declaration of marriage certificate for his parents .
