Recently a thread hit the front page about two teachers sent to prison for forcefully cutting the hair of a student after being sued by the student's parents.

I was glad to read that as I have endured such disrespect and violation myself once and several times pressure to cut the hair that naturally grows on my head.

But what exactly is the reason for such actions taken by most of our schools?

This whole attitude is a psychological and practical relic of colonisation. Where the white colonial administrators would force African students to cut their "unclean, dirty" African hair
Imagine we being the ones now harrasing and dehumanising ourselves decades after the white oppressor has gone


Our natural hair is not bushy and undeserving.

A law needs to be set in place to protect the natural African hair from prosecution

Same thing blacks in America are facing...the policeing of the african hair must be rejected both home and abroad. The African hair is beautiful.
