On Wednesday evening, the officials of the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, stormed some popular beer joints in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, raided many people for violating the precautionary measures put in place by the state government.

During the raid, many fun seekers were arrested and whisked away by officers to the police station.

Government of Ekiti state had recently banned public gathering beyond twenty persons including clubs, bars and beer joints.

In one of the joints raided in Adebayo area of Ado Ekiti, the policemen came in at about eight o’clock in the evening, manhandled fun seekers and picked up some of them into their van.

Drama ensued in some of the joints as people were seen running to evade arrest.

Meanwhile, mixed reactions have continued to trail the action of the policemen particularly the mode of their operation.

We gathered the report that the officers invaded the arena without also taking necessary precautions.

The policemen came into the area without hand gloves nor nose cover, and had contact with fun seekers saying such could also lead to spread of the virus in case anyone is carrying the virus.

Some residents in the area lamented the way those arrested was cramped in police van, saying such was also dangerous.

However, some respondents commended police for the action saying Nigerians are not used to taking orders in simple ways.

They claimed that those arrested deserve to be prosecuted.

Thieves arrested fun seekers. BTW, did they touch them? If yes, they are also at risk of contracting COVID
