If I am to answer your question, I would say No. Simply because the husband may not find it funny. And besides I do rather be the bestie of my wife. It is safer that way.

Love in marrige lasts only for medium term. It is the warm component. Passion (sex) lasts even for a shorter period. It is the hot component. However, companionship lasts for a longer period than both. It is the cool component.
When your partner isn't your friend from inception and both the hot and warm components are stronger than the cool component, eventually they both will fizzle out and you just find out your bestie is someone else and not your partner. One needs a healthy dose of the three components to have a balanced and enduring relationship. Google ' Seven Year Itch' and maybe you'll understand why a married person's best friend can easily be someone apart from the partner.
I'm not saying it is sensible to have a bestie outside your marriage but it happens all the time and these people would rather they have their partners as their besties but it is what it is.
