“””Today our world faces a global crisis that threatens our peace, hope, and freedoms. Across the globe is the climate of fear, havoc, and consequences of a new enemy, Coronavirus Disease- COVID – 19.

Dear Compatriot, this is not a time to fear or despair; it is a moment of responsibility, courage and faith. It is time to demonstrate good citizenship by yielding to relevant policies and guidelines put in place by government and its agencies to combat the challenge of COVID- 19.

As a country, ours is a history of many triumphs in times of global and national challenges. In 2014, through solidarity and unity of purpose, we combated the dreaded Ebola virus.

More than ever before, now is the time for action, solidarity and patriotism. Let’s all brace up and work together to combat this new scourge COVID- 19.”””

About Jonathan

Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan GCFR, GCON (born 20 November 1957) is a Nigerian politician who served as the President of Nigeria from 2010 to 2015. He lost the 2015 presidential election to former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari, becoming the first incumbent president to concede electoral defeat. Prior to that, he served as Vice President of Nigeria from 2007 to 2010 and as Governor of Bayelsa State from 2005 to 2007.

Early life.

Jonathan was born on 20 November 1957 in Ogbia to a Christian family of canoe makers, from the Ijaw minority ethnic group.

Education

Jonathan received a bachelor degree in zoology (second-class honours), a masters degree in hydrobiology and fisheries biology; and a doctorate in zoology from the University of Port Harcourt

Political Career

Deputy Governor of Bayelsa

On 29 May 1999, Jonathan was sworn in as Deputy Governor of Bayelsa alongside Diepreye Alamieyeseigha who came in as the governor of the state on the platform of PDP. Jonathan served as Deputy Governor until December 2005.

Governor of Bayelsa

On December 9, 2005, Jonathan, who was the deputy governor at the time, was sworn in as the governor of Bayelsa State upon the impeachment of the current Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha by the Bayelsa State Assembly after being charged with money laundering in the United Kingdom.

Vice President

As a vice-president, Jonathan took a very low profile. While recognising the constitutional limits of the vice-president’s office, he participated in cabinet meetings and, by statute, was a member of the National Security Council, the National Defence Council, the Federal Executive Council, and was the Chairman of National Economic Council.

Presidency

On 9 February 2010, following a controversial doctrine of necessity from the Nigerian Senate, Goodluck Jonathan was named acting President due to President Yar’Adua’s trip to Saudi Arabia in November 2009 for medical treatment. On 10 February 2010, during his first day as acting president, Jonathan announced a minor cabinet reshuffle.

Presidents should compose themselves in a manner that will evoke a feeling of patriotism in the hearts of his or her citizens..but the vegetable and his handlers seem to not have that script installed yet..

Sometimes I wonder why some people ask why this government gets so much tongue lashing..

The simple answer is they don't connect positively with the common man ...

Corona virus dey give people sleepless night and they are sharing exotic cars ... Any one who collects those cars are enemies of Nigeria because you ALL have nothing less than 2 cars at home ... If not for the black brain in your black heads you will not feel the need to share cars when there are more pressing problems to resolve at hand

Brother Jona... We are sorry ooo!
Even though you were not really a good president but you were far far better than who we have now! cry

Jonathan's speech sounds like the speech of a true president addressing his people... Buhari's speech, hmmm i will be quiet cos the fear of DSS is the begining of wisdom.

NB: You do not value the mumu but wise you have till you have a dundee and dull ruling you... lol

Truth is bitter. But PMB is a huge dissappointment and not fit to be a leader. If you don't agree with me, then let PMB come out for a thirty minutes live press briefing on Covid 19 with questions being entertained from Journalists.

GEJ you tried. You may not be the best as you were not streetwise.

At least you are Sincere and Sympathetic.

Unlike what we have now. A cunning insincere old man. Who gallivants on tax payers funds and cares about nobody's welfare.

If Nigerians mounted pressure on Jonathan, he hears their cry and grants their wishes.

At least, GEJ for use BVN credit people N5k per account with low balances.

I for use am buy one carton of Hollandia Yoghurt.

I rooted for this guy 2014 just because Buhari was not an option.

Buhari's nuclear failure have made this failure to look palatable.

If PDP did what they should for 16 years, the effect of APC's failure could have been cushioned.

However, its same people.

Only the Nigerian people who rig on their behalf are the constant.
