P0011 - 'A' Camshaft Position Timing Over-Advanced or System Performance Bank 1

The CVVT (Continuously Variable Valve Timing) system is installed to the chain sprocket of the exhaust camshaft. The CVVT controller regulates the intake camshaft angle using oil pressure through the OCV (Oil Control Valve). As result, the relative position between the camshaft and the crankshaft becomes optimal, and the engine torque improves, fuel economy improves, exhaust emissions decrease by changing the valve open/close timing of the intake camshaft.

The deviation of the camshaft position from the target point is evaluated during stable driving condition. The Engine Control Module (ECM) accumulates this deviation for a certain period and sets DTC P0011 when the accumulated deviation is too high. The target camshaft position is predetermined value depending on engine speed and throttle angle in the ECM.

Possible Symptoms

● Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
● Lack/Loss of power
● Engine rough idle

Possible Causes

○ Low or Dirty Engine Oil
○ Faulty Valve Timing Control (VTC)
○ Valve Timing Control (VTC) harness is open or shorted circuit.
○ Valve Timing Control (VTC) circuit poor electrical connector
○ Incorrect timing
○ Engine mechanical problems
○ Damaged Engine Control Module (ECM)

From experience ECM shoukd be the last resort, after all other possible cause has been check and certified ok.
Most cars do work normally without any sign or visible changes when the VTC is faulty.

In conclusion changing the VTC is the best solution.

P0335 - Crankshaft Position Sensor A

What does this mean?
The Crankshaft Position Sensor is an Electrical Device in the Engine, used to record the rate at which the Crankshaft is spinning. The information is used by the ECM - Electronic Control Module to control the Ignition and fuel injection.

Possible causes

Faulty crankshaft position sensor
Crankshaft position sensor harness is open or shorted
Crankshaft position sensor circuit poor electrical connection
Signal plate may be damage
Starter motor may be faulty
Starting system circuit
Dead or weak battery

Possible Symptoms

Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
Possible lack/loss of Power
Engine may stall while driving

Possible Solution

After carefully run diagnosis on all possible cause and most of it were eliminated from the cause I changed the Crankshaft Position sensor and all was working.

Note: [/b]Always run a thorough diagnosis to determine the possible cause first before buying and guessing.

Good day Bishop, I really enjoyed your training. I will wish I had those knowledge when kazeem removed my thermostat that it will make the cat to be doing overheating.
Pls am considering getting Toyota Camry 06. Big for nothing. I was been discouraged that the car is always problematic and the fuel consumption is high. Pls I need ur advice

Good day boss, I really appreciate it that you are gaining more sir.

About Toyota Camry 2006, it's a good car and about the fuel consumption it relatively optimal in consumption. If anybody is using the car and complaining about irregular fuel consumption they should take it to a Technician for proper diagnosis.
Pls go ahead and buy but make sure you take an Auto Technician along to check and certified the car before paying sir.

Good morning, I jus changed my radiator from single to a new double cell due to leakage from the single cell radiator.
Thermostat is still intact and single fan inclusive(not connected directly) After driving the car on Saturday, Sunday morning I checked the water level in the radiator and saw the water is low, so I opened the coolant plastic and saw that the water there has overfilled more than the FULL level its meant to attain, which means that the excess of the water in the coolant plastic is meant to go back into the radiator when engine is cool and it didn't. Does that mean the car would likely overheat. Would love to hear your advise pls....When I called the mech, he said I would need to remove thermostat and connect far directly which am against. The car is a year old and it's a corolla 05 model..would love your inputs so as to take necessary precaution against the unforseen.

Boss good day, from experience check the radiator cap first. Before we move to another situation. Prolly chat me up I will explain more sir, but too much water in the coolant reservoir causes over heating sir.

Boss categorically most Toyota parts works the same way and for each other sir. I can tell you that it won't be a problem to maintain.

P0016 TOYOTA - Crankshaft Position Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 1 Sensor 'A'

P0016 Toyota Description

The Engine Control Module (ECM) controls the Oil Control Valve (OCV) to regulate the intake camshaft angle. As a result of the angle change, the engine timing is advance or retard. Optimizing engine timing will help the engine improve torque and fuel economy, and the exhaust emissions decrease under overall driving conditions. The Variable Valve Timing (VVT) system includes the Oil Control Valve (OCV) and VVT controller. The ECM detects the actual intake valve timing using signals from the camshaft and crankshaft position sensors, and performs feedback control.

Possible Causes

▪︎ Dirty Oil
▪︎ Faulty Variable Valve Timing (VVT) sensor
▪︎ Variable Valve Timing (VVT) sensor circuit is open or shorted
▪︎ Variable Valve Timing (VVT) sensor poor electrical connection
▪︎ Faulty Engine Control Module (ECM)

Possible Symptoms

¤ Loss or Lack of Power.
¤ Rough Idling
¤ And most importantly Check Engine Light.

Possible Solutions

Change the engine oil, and rescan if not change the Variable Valve Timing Sensor. But before changing check the wiring.

Please house, I have some issues with my Camry 2005.

Firstly, I observed the engine oil keeps draining everyday ...I changed the oil 3weeks ago and to my surprise, the oil is almost dried up..please what can be the cause?? (I’m using mobi 2000 semi synthetic)

Secondly, I observed it always take time before the fan starts working especially when I drive without putting on the A.C...Some said I should remove the thermostat so it doesn’t spoil the gasket in the long run while some said I should leave it the way it is.... please any suggestions on what to do?

Symptoms of a bad knock Sensor differs from what you posted as the problem. Knock Sensor reduces the engine capacity and the rest.

But from my experience when you have such issue the likely problem is your Throttle body. Do you mind bring it for diagnosis
