Happy New Year - The Excerpts From An Intagible Reality (2010 - 2011) by tyough: 3:31pm On Dec 31, 2010
As the final winds of 2010 waver from one end of the earth to the other and the fresh eastern winds of 2011 approach the nothern hemisphere, it brings excitement to my heart and joy to my spirit that you are alive and have eyes to read this post on my blog or on my facebook note. It is not just that alone, are you actually breathing ? Of course you are. If not for anything else, the breathe of life that you have is a symbol of hope that your situation and your circumstances can and will change tomorrow. Anyone who is among the living has hope[a]—even a live dog is better off than a dead lion! (Eccl 9:4).

I assure you that till date that there is no better year to be in than 2011, there is no better Millenium to have existed than this Millenium. I remember back in 2008, when i pondered on the concept of the Calendar year, and thought that although it is called a NEW YEAR, it is simply another day with a sun rise and a sun set. I thought that maybe the whole idea was probably concieved as a method of systematically archiving time or perhaps it was just a strategic approach geared towards uniformly aligning historic events to fit into what will be eventually be called antiquity. But whether I pondered correctly or I pondered amiss. Dont forget that in Genesis 1:14 God said, “Let there be lights in the vault of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark sacred times, and days and years. This clearly means that God is interested in seperating one season from another and one time frame from another.

But as the final moments of 2010 wind down, although it is not very common in the western world, In Africa I see a lot of people making their way to churches for “The crossover night”. A extarordinary event that prepares you mentally and spiritually for a remarkable year ahead and positions you in line with Gods promises for that new year. While there are many who understand the spiritual depth of what they are doing, perhaps a considerable number of us might just consider it as a recent day ritual. But of what good is it performing the “nightwatch” which has slowly become a doctrine to some of us if afterward we will gradually revert back to our usual cyclic routines without any new plans or goals or if afterward we will allow our hearts, mentalities and paradigms to still be disposed to the failed principles of the previous year.

The whole purpose of writing this , is to emphasize to you the essence of sustainability and the importance of growth and consistency. In order to keep your light shinning, you need to keep refueling your tank. The most obvious difference between the last 365 days and the new 365 days ahead is that we have spent one and can never get them back, remember that if we do the same things we have always done in the past, our future is predictable.

I have listed below five things that should help us crossover and make a difference in the next 365 days.

1. Set Precise Goals

What is a football match without a goal post? You need to sit down and carefully define your goals, make sure they are realistic and pencil down specific details. How do you expect to measure your progress if you never defined it? It might be difficult putting something robust together but start from somewhere. Don’t forget the saying that “He who fails to prepare, prepares to fail” It is not enough for you to look for a church or go to your regular church to attend the crossover; you have to actually cross over.

2. Be Focused

It is not the last strike of the axe that cuts the tree; it is the combination of concentrated strikes on a consistent axis. We need to keep our eyes on the prize. Don’t try to do everything. Sometimes you might have many ideas coming to your mind, just pencil it down. It is for an appointed time. Wait for that time but for now; focus on what you are doing.

3. Change your approach (style)

It is only a mad man that does the same thing over and over again, expecting different results. If an approach to certain issues around you have not been working, change your approach in 2011. If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at will change.

4. Change your attitude

Your attitude determines your altitude, therefore in 2011, if you have to go higher you need change your attitude. A good attitude might not guarantee success all the time however, a bad attitude will definitely result in failure. The good thing about attitude is that you can navigate it to whatever direction you choose. Always look at every situation from all points of view no matter how bad they look, you will realize that it is not that bad. Trust me! There is always a way out.

5. Don’t Procrastinate

The best time to do it is NOW! If something has to be done, then now is the best time. If you shift it further, you have sold time for cheap. Is it a business proposal, professional qualification or Job Application? Remember that you can’t buy time. You have a fixed time span here on earth, therefore every second counts. It is commonly said that dont put off till tomorrow, what you can do today.

Finally, It is my desire that we all make remarkable progress in this New Year and that is why I decided to share a little bit of facts I have discovered over the years. My prayer is that 2011 will be undeniably and unarguably, the most amazing year you ever lived before 2012 that is better than 2010. I therefore urge you all to let the world see the light that you carry, stop hiding your potential, it is meant to impact people , affect and change the life of others. Do what you love doing and do it with passion.
