A Peek Inside
There was great confusion the day the bats arrived.

Children panicked and took to their heels
Some ran on all fours
Many from playgrounds within the square
Into the waiting hands of their guardians
Whose hearts were already troubled.

People ran helter-skelter
Some in directions never walked
Some into homes never been
As the pandemonium lingered
While the bats hovered the sunny sky.

Shops closed with light speed
Doors slammed and locks jammed
Windows were shut and curtains drawn
And eyes peeped from curtains ends
All watching as the confusion trailed.

Hearts raced heavily indoors,
People shivered and feared for their lives
Children screamed and clutched on adults
And eyes gazed in search of answers
While questions asked were left unanswered.
