I don't like it. It reminds me of the boomerang controller touted for the PS3. God knows that didn't hit markets commercially because fans wanted the old thing. If anything I haven't seen a change in controllers since the PS1. I'm guessing the controller we'll use will look no different from the PS4 one.

You may be right about the looks but they have made some notable improvements since the launch of the PS1. Internally. The PS5, for example, will take haptic feedback and vibration to a whole new level.

Personally, I have no problem with the looks. As far as notable improvements are made, it has a potential of beating the PS4 controller.

I think the looks matters cos if it looks and feels wrong in the hand it will be a bit uncomfortable to play...well what do I know, we Nigerians will buy it all as long as is trending

No, trust me. For notable console brands like Sega, Nintendo, Xbox, Playstation; ALL their controllers are ergonomically suited to allow game play for hours on end. There is no popular console with poorly constructed controllers, no one would buy. It's also one of the quality tests they run before it's sold to the general public.

Nintendo 64 was highly criticised for its controllers back then, a great console but it had poor controllers.

Exactly! That's why I said no one would buy. Eventually, the controllers had to be reconstructed in newer forms so that people won't lose interest.

Not for the N64 though, d game was still a commercial success with its poor consoles

They keep saying this, but has anyone actually felt an improvement in rumble function since the PS1? The only major difference I remember was pressure sensitivity PS2 pads possessed; a very annoying, thumb-swelling feature. The boomerang controller had accelerometers which meant one could swing it in directions for extra motions. Did the PS3 and 4 controllers receive this ability?

Those controllers were imported from Hell. I never owned one of those consoles. I borrowed one for a week and adapting to the controller was a torture session. I quickly dumped the console back for the owner a little under the stipulated time.

You have a point. The 90s and early 2000s peeps didn't have a choice though. Video games were just upcoming and people were loving it.

Yes I did. Keep in mind that the PS1 and PS2 rumble function are just plain in gameplay, maybe when drifting in a car race OR when Spiderman's sense goes haywire. But as improvements are made, vibrations will be "classified" by intensity depending on what you are doing at that time. Let's examine the PS5, for example. I watched a supposedly leaked review on what the PS5's capabilities are. When you are playing GOW, for example, assume fighting Baldur. There are different "intensities" of vibrations for different moves and interaction during cutscenes. I believe it's a tough feat because they have to make improvements while putting all their games in mind, even games made in the future without a call for reconfiguration to the PS5. If it isn't made optimal for all games, some will have weird gameplay because the vibrations won't "feel right". Trust me, there are different improvements on each console. You just have to play a few games with each controller and "feel" for yourself.

The only major difference I remember was pressure sensitivity PS2 pads possessed; a very annoying, thumb-swelling feature. The boomerang controller had accelerometers which meant one could swing it in directions for extra motions. Did the PS3 and 4 controllers receive this ability?
No, but do keep in mind, that as controllers are being created, they also have to keep originality in check for each console/controller. Imitation of another controller would be considered a rip-off in the gaming world and would attract controversy; especially between gaming companies. And of course, for every gaming company, there are a few market flops and fails that are hilarious to reminisce. No one is above flops, not even gaming companies.

Once you get comfortable with Xbox controllers, you'll never want to get close to a PlayStation controller ever again, I doubt if this PS5 controller would be any different.

Xbox has had haptic feedback since Xbox one na
The controller looks cool, but I don’t get how people can play shooter games with PlayStation pads, the position of the joystick for moving is just wrong
I prefer Xbox’s design
My opinion tho
