Please Sorry if this post is out of contest in to some people!! If you think am a scammer by reason of the Post, please am available to clear the doubt,, Am just sharing an idea to people that might need it and are willing to get some penny from farming. If I had the finances I would have ventured into it.

In month's to come, there will be high demand for Maize aka Corn. It is a rich source of nutrient and used for variety of purposes like flour, pap etc.

SUMMARY OF PROPOSED MAIZE FARMING

For a Land Size of 1hacters (15 plots) and a Total maize stands of 53,333 with standard spacing of 7.5cm X 2.5cm.For a maturity period of 80 – 120 days.

Financial Input (Expenses):
Land Rentage @ 3,000/plot for 5months - 45,000
Land Preparation - 30,000
Cost of purchasing planting grain - 27,750
Weeding/Chemicals - 19,000
Fertilizer & Insecticide - 17,000
Miscellaneous - 25,000
Total - #145,750

Expected Revenue:
In this season i.e raining season, sales is usually made in a unit of 5 cob per unit and a unit is sold for atleast #100. For a total of 53,333 maize stands, (assuming all the stands produce 1 stand each which is usually 2 stands in most cases). So total expected revenue is 53,333 / 5 = 10,666units x #100 = #1,066,600

Therefore:
Total Expenses - #145,750
Total Expected Revenue - #1,066,600
Revenue – Expenses i.e #1,066,600 – 145,750 = #925,850

SO WITH INVESTMENT OF #145,750 A PROFIT OF #925,850 CAN BE MADE ALL FACTORS BEEN EQUAL.

MEANING ON AN AVERAGE, A PROFIT OF ATLEAST #600,000 CAN BE MADE NO MATTER HOW FLUCTUATING THE MARKET AND OTHER FARMING FACTORS CAN BE.

Where is your cost of planting?
Where is your cost of spraying insecticides and herbicides?
Which fertilizer costs N17,000? Urea alone is N8,000 per bag and is used at least twice. NPK is about N6,000 a bag. You will need nothing less than 6-8 bags of NPK and Urea for 15 plots.
What of harvesting costs? Also, will you not treat with Aflasafe?

I do not think you have taken time to assess your costs very well. You need to do that. Also, most maize in our environment produce 1 cob. I have used many seeds so I know what I am saying.

Thank you so much Sir for your contributions and assessments!

I must admit the cost of planting was omitted. While in most cases the market women do the harvesting themselves.
But for the sake of a more comprehensive cost analysis, in will be included.

Then on the part of the chemicals, fertilizer and insecticide,, my enquiries and few experiences can ascertain the viability of the amount.

Nevertheless, am open to better ideas and more feasible analysis.

Thanks

Very good analysis... [s]But with farming today, you need to factor-in unwanted visit by fulani herdsmen. Their activities are like a plague to crop cultivation in parts of Nigeria. Back in the days, they would personally compensate for damage done to your crops by paying stipends per plant.
Today you'll be lucky to go home alive after an encounter with them...[/s]

I should learn to be positive, c'mon Let's go plant some maize!!! grin grin

Welldone... That is a good step towards a nice investment. If you can input SuperGro Organic Liquid Fertilizer as the fertilizer to be applied on your farm, you will be getting better farm yield. And it is very economical as it's highly concentrated, and saves farmers' money.
