The Power of the Blood of Jesus

The power of the blood of Jesus has provided everything you need to live a life of victory, including Redemption, fellowship, healing, protection and authority over the devil.
As Christians, we know about the blood, sing hymns about the blood, and remember it during Communion. But how many of us truly know how deep its power runs, and all that it has provided for us? Even more important—how many of us use it and apply it in our lives every day?

From Genesis to Revelation, the words the blood are kept before our eyes—a reminder of its importance and significance to God and to us. The sacrifices of Abel, Noah and Isaac, and the Passover lamb, and the giving of the Law all came to pass, but “not without blood” (Hebrews 9:7, NKJV). The blood symbolizes cleansing and purification—the settling of a matter.

God is love. And the greatest expression of His love toward us is the blood of Jesus. That love covers every need man has had or ever will have, and every time we apply the blood, we experience an outpouring of this love. It is love, through the blood, that has created a barrier between you and all the works of the devil.

“Of all the glorious things that the blood means, this is one of the most glorious: His blood is the sign, the measure, yes, the impartation of His love.” —Andrew Murray

Let’s elevate the blood of Jesus to the same place in our hearts that it has in God’s heart—and awaken in our spirits those powerful things the blood has procured for us. The power of the blood of Jesus has provided everything you need to live a life of victory, including redemption, fellowship, healing, protection and authority over the devil.

Redemption Through the Blood of Jesus
“We have redemption through His blood.” –Ephesians 1:7 (NKJV)
You know the story. Satan came to Adam’s wife, Eve, in the form of a serpent and deceived her into disobeying God. Adam followed suit and did what Satan told him to do instead of obeying God. When he did that, he made Satan his lord. In bowing his knee to Satan, Adam turned over the authority that God had given him. He made Satan the illegitimate ruler of the earth.

From that day on—everything changed. With one trespass, death was passed on to all men (Romans 5:12). The earth and everything in it was suddenly cursed and man was separated from God by sin. Sounds unfixable, right?

But God had a plan.

His plan of Redemption was the same as it was for Abel, Moses and Noah—it would be through the shedding of blood. Such great Redemption for all mankind, for eternity, could not be accomplished through the blood of just a goat or ram. Redemption of this magnitude required a much greater sacrifice—the blood of His Son—Jesus.

The greatest thing the blood of Jesus accomplished was this—it washed all your sin away and made you clean and pure—white as snow. From the minute you receive Jesus as Lord of your life, God will not remember any past sin in your life. That’s how powerful the blood is!

The best part? You don’t have to earn and pay for what has been provided on the Cross. In fact, you couldn’t earn it even if you tried. The best thing you can do is joyfully accept this free gift.

In addition to being redeemed from sin, the blood also set us free from the curse of the law so that THE BLESSING of Abraham might come upon us in Christ (Galatians 3:13).

What is the curse?

The curse is death, sin, sickness, disease, poverty, lack, depression—anything bad you can think of. Adam’s treason gave Satan authority over the life of man, but because of the power of the blood of Jesus, the moment you made Jesus Christ the Lord of your life, you were redeemed from the curse and Satan was put out of business.

Fellowship With God Through the Blood of Jesus
“Having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus.” –Hebrews 10:19 (NKJV)
When you think of fellowship, you likely think of time spent over coffee at a Bible study, or time spent enjoying the company of friends. Fellowship is closeness—a friendship. That’s what we have with God, but it was bought with a price.

Before Adam fell in the Garden of Eden, he had enjoyed friendship and fellowship with God. After Adam’s Fall, sin separated us from this precious fellowship and could only be restored through the blood of Jesus. When you receive Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you declare that you want to receive His fellowship and friendship, and the door is opened for you to enjoy it!

Because of the power of the blood of Jesus, you can come boldly into the presence of God. The blood of Jesus builds a mighty wall between sin and believers who have been made the righteousness of God through Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Another word for fellowship is communion. One way we recognize that the blood provided for fellowship with God is through the taking of Communion. Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me” (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). That’s why Communion is much deeper than a religious observance—it’s a recognition of (and fellowship with) what God did for us through the blood of Jesus. You are a friend of God (John 15:15)!

Healing Through the Blood of Jesus
“By His stripes we are healed.” –Isaiah 53:5 (NKJV)
When you take Communion, do you think of healing? Most Christians take the emblem of the blood and say, “Thank God, we are delivered from sin,” and that is true. Praise God for it!

But according to Isaiah 53:4-5, Jesus’ sacrifice covered every area of man’s existence. He bore spiritual torment for our sins, mental distress for our worry, care, sorrow and fear, as well as physical pain for our sickness and disease. The stripes He bore and the blood He shed were for our healing. By His stripes we are healed.

God gave everything He had to redeem mankind from the curse. When we receive only part of His sacrifice, it’s an insult to Him (see this prophecy by Kenneth Copeland). When we apply the blood of Jesus, and receive its power, we need to remember to apply it in its fullness. Don’t just receive and apply it halfway. Accept everything Jesus’ sacrifice provided. If you fail to understand and receive the full power of the blood, you will be missing out. Paul wrote, “For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep” (1 Corinthians 11:30, KJV).

If you need healing today, the blood of Jesus is free and without side effects. You don’t need a prescription, you don’t need an appointment, and you don’t have to check with your insurance company. Jesus provided it all through the blood! You can appropriate the blood of Jesus for your healing today.

Protection Through the Blood of Jesus
“When I see the blood, I will pass over you.” –Exodus 12:13 (KJV)

In Exodus, after nine devastating plagues, Pharaoh still refused to let God’s people go. So, God sent a final plague—one of judgment—to “smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt” (Exodus 12:12). As sons of Adam, Satan knew the children of Israel had broken covenant with God and were also due judgment. God could protect them, but “not without blood.” They had a covenant relationship with God through Abraham, but they needed to stand in that covenant. They needed to choose the covenant over the curse.

So, God instructed them to take the blood of a lamb and paint it on their doorposts. They did, and the angel of death passed them by. Was it really the blood of a lamb that stopped them from being killed? No! It was the blood of the Lamb (Jesus) who was slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8, KJV).

When Kellie Copeland’s daughter, Lyndsey, was just a young teenager, there was a wave of spinal meningitis n the area that had been killing young people. When Lyndsey was hospitalized with the condition, the Copelands were faced with a decision.

How would they respond?

Refusing to fear, the family stood together for Lyndsey’s healing—applying the blood of Jesus, and taking Communion together. Sure enough, Lyndsey was healed by the blood of Jesus!

Kellie later said of the situation, “We had been pleading the blood of Jesus over our family solidly for a couple of years. When I was in the hospital room, I could feel fear come all over me. But I went out in the hallway and I started speaking our covenant because it was so real to me.”

The blood of the Lamb is inexhaustible and never-ending. It is an unlimited supply. When we apply the blood of Jesus to the doorposts of our lives in faith—we access the power to defeat every part of the curse that tries to take residence. When you speak the Name of Jesus in the face of sickness, disease or danger, the blood of the Lamb is behind it, and you are protected!

Authority Over the Devil Through the Blood of Jesus
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.” –Revelation 12:11 (KJV)
There is someone who knows, maybe even better than you do, the power and authority given to you by the blood of Jesus. He will do anything to make sure you never find out. He will try to keep you distracted, send people or ideas to confuse you, and plant seeds of doubt to keep you from operating in what belongs to you.

You can probably guess from this description who it is—the devil. If there is anyone who has anything to lose by your finding out the truth—it’s him. Well, his day is done. You are about to put him right under your feet where he belongs!

What happens when believers find out about the power of the blood of Jesus?

Chip Brim, son of Billye Brim, once told a story about a meeting he had preached where a young lady who was a witch doctor and demon-possessed was in attendance. A group of pastors had spent five hours trying to deliver her. They were praying and praying, but she continued to physically attack them, and the demon in her was speaking lies and tormenting the people in the room.

Though Chip had been staying in the background, the woman spotted him and suddenly charged him at full speed. At that moment, it rose up in his spirit to yell out, “I plead the blood!” Immediately, she fell and grabbed her ears and screamed, “Not the blood! Not the blood!” Realizing its power, all the ministers gathered around and began singing and pleading and declaring the blood. Within 15 minutes, she was set free—delivered. If demons hate the blood so much, that is evidence of how powerful it really is.

Of course, the curse is still out there. You can see it all around you, but now you have a choice—to use the blood or not. You have authority over whatever it is in the Name of Jesus, and by the blood of Jesus, you can stand against it. The blood is powerful enough to remove all evidence of the curse in your life.

As Gloria Copeland says, “The blood that Jesus shed for you and me has enormous, great power. And we need to be saying so, and declaring it over our lives.”

That means that when the accuser says we’re guilty, our plea before God, the Righteous Judge, is the blood of Jesus. The blood is our defense. It declares we are not guilty; instead, we are free from all penalty of sin. The blood kicks Satan out of the affairs of our lives and the lives of our families. But you have to do it by faith!

Faith in the blood produces great results.” —Andrew Murray

Every day you have the right to exercise that authority by pleading what the blood of Jesus has done for you. Refuse to give the enemy even one small inch of territory. Satan is a defeated foe, and through the precious blood of Jesus, we are victorious!

Learn How to Plead the Blood of Jesus here.

When you receive revelation that the blood of Jesus has provided redemption, fellowship, healing, protection and authority over the devil, you will begin to operate in the fullness of its power! The power of the blood of Jesus is enough to overcome everything coming against you. This is how you live a life of victory in Christ, and it’s the life Jesus died to give you. Be blessed, and remember…“Jesus Is Lord!”

What does it mean that Jesus is the Lamb of God?
GQkidzJesus Lamb of Godaudio
Question: "What does it mean that Jesus is the Lamb of God?"

Answer: When Jesus is called the Lamb of God in John 1:29 and John 1:36, it is referring to Him as the perfect and ultimate sacrifice for sin. In order to understand who Christ was and what He did, we must begin with the Old Testament, which contains prophecies concerning the coming of Christ as a “guilt offering” (Isaiah 53:10). In fact, the whole sacrificial system established by God in the Old Testament set the stage for the coming of Jesus Christ, who is the perfect sacrifice God would provide as atonement for the sins of His people (Romans 8:3; Hebrews 10).

The sacrifice of lambs played a very important role in the Jewish religious life and sacrificial system. When John the Baptist referred to Jesus as the “Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world” (John 1:29), the Jews who heard him might have immediately thought of any one of several important sacrifices. With the time of the Passover feast being very near, the first thought might be the sacrifice of the Passover lamb. The Passover feast was one of the main Jewish holidays and a celebration in remembrance of God’s deliverance of the Israelites from bondage in Egypt. In fact, the slaying of the Passover lamb and the applying of the blood to doorposts of the houses (Exodus 12:11-13) is a beautiful picture of Christ’s atoning work on the cross. Those for whom He died are covered by His blood, protecting us from the angel of (spiritual) death.

Another important sacrifice involving lambs was the daily sacrifice at the temple in Jerusalem. Every morning and evening, a lamb was sacrificed in the temple for the sins of the people (Exodus 29:38-42). These daily sacrifices, like all others, were simply to point people towards the perfect sacrifice of Christ on the cross. In fact, the time of Jesus’ death on the cross corresponds to the time the evening sacrifice was being made in the temple. The Jews at that time would have also been familiar with the Old Testament prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah, who foretold the coming of One who would be brought “like a lamb led to the slaughter” (Jeremiah 11:19; Isaiah 53:7) and whose sufferings and sacrifice would provide redemption for Israel. Of course, that person was none other than Jesus Christ, “the Lamb of God.”

While the idea of a sacrificial system might seem strange to us today, the concept of payment or restitution is still one we can easily understand. We know that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23) and that our sin separates us from God. We also know the Bible teaches we are all sinners and none of us is righteous before God (Romans 3:23). Because of our sin, we are separated from God, and we stand guilty before Him. Therefore, the only hope we can have is if He provides a way for us to be reconciled to Himself, and that is what He did in sending His Son Jesus Christ to die on the cross. Christ died to make atonement for sin and to pay the penalty of the sins of all who believe in Him.

It is through His death on the cross as God’s perfect sacrifice for sin and His resurrection three days later that we can now have eternal life if we believe in Him. The fact that God Himself has provided the offering that atones for our sin is part of the glorious good news of the gospel that is so clearly declared in 1 Peter 1:18-21: “For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.”

The Bible regards blood as the symbol and source of life. Leviticus 17:14 states, "For the life of every creature is its blood: its blood is its life…" (ESV)

Blood plays a major role in the Old Testament.

On the first Passover in Exodus 12:1-13, the blood of a lamb was posted on the top and sides of each door frame as a sign that death had already taken place, so the Angel of Death would pass over.

Once a year on the Day of Atonement (Yom Kippur), the high priest would enter the Holy of Holies to offer a blood sacrifice to atone for the sins of the people. The blood of a bull and of a goat was sprinkled on the altar. The life of the animal was poured out, given on behalf of the life of the people.

When God cut a covenant treaty with his people at Sinai, Moses took the blood of oxen and sprinkled half of it on the altar and half on the people of Israel. (Exodus 24:6-cool

The Blood of Jesus Christ
Because of its relationship to life, blood signifies the supreme offering to God. God's holiness and justice demand that sin be punished. The only penalty or payment for sin is eternal death. The offering of an animal and even our own death are not sufficient sacrifices to pay for sin. Atonement requires a perfect, spotless sacrifice, offered in just the right way.

Jesus Christ, the one perfect God-man, came to offer the pure, complete and everlasting sacrifice to make payment for our sin. Hebrews chapters 8-10 beautifully explain how Christ became the eternal High Priest, entering heaven (the Holy of Holies), once and for all, not by the blood of sacrificial animals, but by his own precious blood on the cross. Christ poured out his life in the ultimate atoning sacrifice for our sin and the sins of the world.

In the New Testament, the blood of Jesus Christ, therefore, becomes the foundation for God's new covenant of grace. At the Last Supper, Jesus said to his disciples: “This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.” (Luke 22:20, ESV)

Beloved hymns express the precious and powerful nature of the blood of Jesus Christ. Let's scan the Scriptures now to affirm its profound significance.

The Blood of Jesus Has Power To:
Redeem us

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace … (Ephesians 1:7, ESV)

With his own blood — not the blood of goats and calves — he entered the Most Holy Place once for all time and secured our redemption forever. (Hebrews 9:12, NLT)

Reconcile us to God

For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood… (Romans 3:25, NLT)

Pay our ransom

For you know that God paid a ransom to save you from the empty life you inherited from your ancestors. And the ransom he paid was not mere gold or silver. It was the precious blood of Christ, the sinless, spotless Lamb of God. (1 Peter 1: 18-19, NLT)

And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation … (Revelation 5:9, ESV)

Wash away sin

But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin. (1 John 1:7, NLT)

Forgive us

Indeed, under the law almost everything is purified with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins. ‎(Hebrews 9:22, ESV)

Free us

… and from Jesus Christ. He is the faithful witness to these things, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all the kings of the world. All glory to him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by shedding his blood for us. (Revelation 1:5, NLT)

Justify us

Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. (Romans 5:9, ESV)

Cleanse our guilty conscience

Under the old system, the blood of goats and bulls and the ashes of a young cow could cleanse people’s bodies from ceremonial impurity. Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God. For by the power of the eternal Spirit, Christ offered himself to God as a perfect sacrifice for our sins. (Hebrews 9:13-14, NLT)

Sanctify us

So Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through his own blood. (Hebrews 13:12, ESV)

Open the way to the presence of God

But now you have been united with Christ Jesus. Once you were far away from God, but now you have been brought near to him through the blood of Christ. (Ephesians 2:13, NLT)

And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. (Hebrews 10:19, NLT)

Give us peace

For God in all his fullness was pleased to live in Christ, and through him God reconciled everything to himself. He made peace with everything in heaven and on earth by means of Christ’s blood on the cross. (Colossians 1:19-20, NLT)

Overcome the enemy

And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not love their lives to the death. (Revelation 12:11, NKJV)

3 Problems That Can Only Be Solved by the Blood of Jesus

Previously, we discussed how as believers in Jesus Christ, we can be fully assured that we’re really saved and can never lose our salvation—it’s eternally secure.

Since we can’t lose our salvation, some might wonder if this means it doesn’t matter how we live after we’re saved. Are we free to do whatever we want? After all, nothing can change our salvation.

It’s important to know that being saved eternally doesn’t give us license to disobey God or sin freely. In fact, when a believer commits a sin, it results in three huge problems that involve three parties: God, ourselves, and Satan. Let’s look at these problems and the unique solution to each one: the blood of Jesus.

1. Separated from God
Isaiah 59:1-2 tells us what happens when we sin:

“No, Jehovah’s hand is not so short that it cannot save; nor is His ear so heavy that it cannot hear. But your iniquities have become a separation between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you so that He does not hear.”

Our sins separate us from God, since He is holy and absolutely righteous in every detail. It doesn’t take committing a serious crime to separate us from God. Even telling a little lie can cause us to lose the enjoyment of His presence.

How can we get rid of this separation? Do we give it some time to somehow resolve on its own? Do we promise to do better in the future? Does waiting take care of the problem? No. Only the blood of Jesus can take away the sin that separates us from God.

Let’s read what 1 John 1:7-9 says:

“But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from every sin. If we say that we do not have sin, we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Because of the blood of Jesus, we can be forgiven of our sins, and the separation between us and God is removed.

But notice that for us to be forgiven, something is first required of us: we must confess our sins to God. When we confess, He is faithful to forgive us.

Sometimes after we confess, we may not feel forgiven. But how we feel doesn’t determine whether we’re actually forgiven. The fact is that if we’ve confessed our sins to God, we are forgiven and cleansed. The blood of Jesus satisfies God. According to God’s own word, when we confess our sins to Him, we’re forgiven and have the right to come boldly into God’s presence. The separation is removed, and we can enjoy fellowship with Him again.

2. Guilt in our conscience
Another huge problem created by sin is the guilt we feel inwardly. God is satisfied with the blood of Jesus as payment for our sins, but we may be plagued by guilt. This is because when we commit a sin, that sin leaves a stain on our conscience. On God’s side we’re forgiven, but on our side sin has left a stain. The feeling of guilt comes from our stained conscience.

The stain of sin on our conscience is serious, and no cleaning agent on earth is powerful enough to obliterate it. However, Hebrews 9:14 shows us the unique “stain remover” for our conscience:

“How much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered Himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God?”

The same blood that allows God to forgive us also purges our conscience of the stain of sin. We’re both forgiven and cleansed by the blood of Jesus.

To help illustrate, let’s say we’re issued a ticket for violating a traffic law. A record of the violation goes to the court (God), and a copy goes to us (our conscience). The court needs payment for the ticket. When we confess our sin to God, He regards the blood of Jesus as complete payment for our “ticket,” so He forgives us and removes our “ticket” from His record. We, however, may still have a lingering sense of guilt when we look at our copy of the “ticket.”

We have to remember what 1 John 1:9 says: “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” On God’s side, He forgives, and on our side, we’re cleansed. This cleansing removes the stain of sin from our conscience.

If a feeling of guilt remains after we confess our sins, we should simply claim the power of the blood of Jesus by faith. We can pray, “Thank You, Lord Jesus, by Your blood I’m forgiven and cleansed. Lord, Your Word says that Your blood even purifies my conscience!” The more we thank the Lord this way, the more we’re assured that our conscience is cleansed.

3. Accused by Satan
After we’ve confessed our sins, received God’s forgiveness, and had our conscience cleansed by the blood of Christ, we may encounter another problem: some lingering inward accusation regarding our sins. This inner accusation can become like a gigantic cloud over our heads, robbing us of all peace as we continue to blame ourselves for what we’ve done.

What should we do? Should we confess our sin again, this time more earnestly? That doesn’t work. No matter how many times we confess the same sin to God, the accusations just won’t go away.

To be freed from these accusations, it’s important to see where they come from. Are they from God? No. God forgave us when we confessed. Then are they from our conscience? No. The blood of Jesus purified our sin-stained conscience. These accusations come from Satan.

This shouldn’t surprise us. In fact, in Revelation 12:10 Satan is called “the accuser of [the] brothers.” He spends all his time accusing the Lord’s believers day and night. His goal is to weaken and even paralyze us. He wants to cheat us of our enjoyment of God’s presence. If we accept his accusations, our fellowship with God will be hindered, and we’ll suffer great loss in our spiritual life.

But Revelation 12:11 tells us what answers these accusations from Satan:

“And they overcame him because of the blood of the Lamb.”

We need to confess our sins to the Lord to be forgiven and have our conscience cleansed from the stain of sin. But after that, if we’re hounded by accusations, we must take further action. We have to say “NO!” to Satan’s accusations and declare the full effectiveness of the blood of Jesus. We have to point Satan, the one who accuses us, to the blood of the Lamb.

Don’t succumb to Satan’s accusations. When he accuses us, we can declare, “Satan, I reject your accusations. Look at the blood of Jesus. God is satisfied by Christ’s redeeming blood, my conscience is purified with His cleansing blood, and you’re defeated by His overcoming blood!”

Experiencing the blood of Jesus
By believing in and experiencing the blood of Jesus, our whole Christian walk will change. We don’t have to remain separated from God, burdened by guilt, or tormented by Satan’s accusations. When we sin, we must confess our sins, believe we’re forgiven and cleansed, and even declare that we’ve been forgiven and cleansed by the blood of Jesus. The blood of Christ is truly precious!

This hymn by Watchman Nee expresses how effective Christ’s blood can be to us in our experience (you can hear the tune here):

Why should I worry, doubt and fear?

Has God not caused His Son to bear

My sins upon the tree?

The debt that Christ for me has paid,

Would God another mind have made

To claim again from me?

Redemption full the Lord has made,

And all my debts has fully paid,

From law to set me free.

I fear not for the wrath of God,

For I’ve been sprinkled with His blood,

It wholly covers me.

For me forgiveness He has gained,

And full acquittal was obtained,

All debts of sin are paid;

God would not have His claim on two,

First on His Son, my Surety true,

And then upon me laid.

So now I have full peace and rest,

My Savior Christ hath done the best

And set me wholly free;

By His all-efficacious blood

I ne’er could be condemned by God,

For He has died for me!

The separation is removed, and we can enjoy fellowship with Him again.
First, what is sin? Sin is direct disobedience of God's commandment or teaching as indicated in His Law/agreement. It is a transgression of the Law because God's Law is all-or-nothing meaning that by disobeying one command, one is guilty of disobeying the entirety of the Law. In the Old Law, God provided for the people a bonus ticket of sorts by which they had their sins erased — their debt cleared so to speak — and this on one day of each year, the day of Atonement, via the offering of what is called a sin-offering. In the Old Law, the purpose and application of sin-offering are found detailed in Exodus 30 and Leviticus 4. undecided
7 “Aaron must burn sweet-smelling incense on the altar every morning. He will do this when he comes to care for the lamps. 8 He must burn incense again when he checks the lamps in the evening so that incense will be burned before the Lord every day forever.
9 Don’t use this altar for offering any other kind of incense or burnt offering or for any kind of grain offering or drink offering.
10 “Once a year Aaron must make a special sacrifice. He will use the blood of the sin offering to erase the people's sins. He will do this at the horns of this altar. This day will be called the Day of Atonement, and it will be a very special day for the Lord.” - Exodus 30 vs 7 - 10
A sin-offering is meant to completely erase the sins of the people once every year. undecided

To qualify as a sin-offering, Jesus Christ ought to offer His followers an instant fix to the sin debt which they come to Him with. Jesus Christ, God's New agreement, would need to be able to erase all of their sins without much effort on their path to be considered a sin-offering candidate. However, a close look at His Gospel reveals that this is not the case at all. undecided
31 So Jesus said to the Jews who believed in him, “If you continue to accept and obey my teaching, you are my followers.
32 You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”
33 They answered, “We are Abraham’s descendants. And we have never been slaves. So why do you say that we will be free?”
34 Jesus said, “The truth is, everyone who sins is a slave—a slave to sin.
35 A slave does not stay with a family forever. But a son belongs to the family forever.
36 So if the Son makes you free, you are free.
37 I know you are Abraham’s descendants. But you want to kill me because you don’t want to accept my teaching.
38 I am telling you what my Father has shown me. But you do what your father has told you.” - John 8 vs 31 - 38
In the passage just above, we see that the path to forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ —for those who are followers of Jesus Christ — does not in any way mirror the sin-offering described in the Old Law, as those who follow Jesus Christ are individually responsible for:
■ putting an end to their bad ways,
■ repenting from a life of disobedience(transgression of God's Law), choosing instead obedience to His Truth
■ following continuously in the path of obedience to the Truth until one is made pure from sin — set free from slavery to sin — by the Truth
■ Attaining everlasting righteousness through the process of obedience to the Truth of God
see Daniel 9 vs 24

Jesus Christ does not erase sins. Instead, He is a path to redemption for all those who seek to be made free from the curse and burden of God's Old Law or Moses. The onus is on those who follow Him to use that path in achieving a life free from slavery to sin. Those who refuse to live in continuous submission and obedience to His teachings and commandments remain slaves to sin and are destined for eternal damnation as a result. This brings us back to what is stated in Matthew 26 where Jesus Christ reveals that He is the New agreement from God to the people. undecided
27 Then he took a cup of wine, thanked God for it, and gave it to them. He said, “Each one of you drink some of it.
28 This wine is my blood, which will be poured out to forgive the sins of many and begin the new agreement from God to his people.
29 I want you to know, I will not drink this wine again until that day when we are together in my Father’s kingdom and the wine is new. Then I will drink it again with you.”
30 They all sang a song and then went out to the Mount of Olives. - Matthew 26 vs 27 - 30
Jesus Christ never insinuated that He is a sin-offering. Instead, He said His blood was poured out for the forgiveness of sins, a path to redemption for the defaulters of the Old Law of Moses — sinners of the House of Israel. Jesus Christ is not some sort of price paid for sins, neither is He a sin-offering nor a sin-eater. undecided

Jesus Christ offered Himself to those of the House of Jacob who were weary of the curse they were under and the heavy burden of sin they continued to carry with them as a result of their being unable to obtain redemption and resolution of their sin debt by way of the Old Law, and this by design.
27 “My Father has given me everything. No one knows the Son—only the Father knows the Son. And no one knows the Father—only the Son knows the Father. And the only people who will know about the Father are those the Son chooses to tell.
28 “Come to me all of you who are tired from the heavy burden you have been forced to carry. I will give you rest.
29 Accept my teaching. Learn from me. I am gentle and humble in spirit. And you will be able to get some rest.
30 Yes, the teaching that I ask you to accept is easy. The load I give you to carry is light.” - Matthew 11 vs 27 - 30
That rest which Jesus Christ promises is earned through acceptance of His teachings — continuous submission and obedience of the Truth of God, the teachings and commandments of Jesus Christ. So, let no man deceive you with lies that your heavy burden — the sin debt you owe God carried over from His Old Law — is erased when you proclaim belief in Jesus Christ, for it isn't. God has not changed His mind regarding sin.
