What Is The Actual Reason For Selling Nigerian Used Cars???? by Hychineson(m): 10:18am On Apr 12, 2020
Please Nairalanders! I want you to help me clear this. Most of the adverts I see here will tell you 3 months used, 6 months used, after seeing these adverts my mind always tell me there may be underlying faults the vehicles might have which prompted it's being marketed but the seller will never open up to tell you the issues the cars have. So, I want to know are there genuine Nigeria used cars without issues sold here

Plenty good Nigerian used cars. Cars are not only sold after few months just because they are faulty

The general feeling is that the cars are already problematic and their owners are only looking to pass on the burden to somebody else. Ofcourse not all Nigerian car owners are careless, so there are definitely good Nigerian used cars on the market. They also come at a lower price point than a Tokunboh of same model. However, be prepared to carry out thorough checks before you commit to buy one. I personally wouldn’t buy a Nigerian used car unless I have a fair idea of who previously owned it, their socio-economic status and attitude to maintenance.

Nigerian sell their cars to upgrade

People grow and feel they should upgrade to the next level...get a better car on the market because they can afford it now

Nigerians don't always sell their cars because they are faulty

Some splurge and buy vehicles beyond their maintenance abilities and end up selling to buy smaller vehicles.

Some hit snags and have to sell their vehicles to sort them

Some buy cars they want and realize it isn't what they need and have to sell to buy what they need.

Some sell their cars when they become money pits.

ok, but how do you ascertain that, because some faults are not discoverable until u started using the car.

I agree with you that some sell to upgrade but such people are few. Majority sell because of major problem they are tired of dealing with.

That's why you allow trusted professional do that for you. When a test drive is done and all the parameters are tested, You'll likely discover if the car is faulty or not. Of course there are some things you may need to do but majorly if the engine , gear, AC, gear are goodand the car drives smoothly upon inspection, then you're good to go . You may still need to do a few things to your taste but that would not break your pocket

Be careful with buying Nigeria used vehicles. Some of those vehicles are stolen or used for robbery, kidnapping or assassination.

Very few sell for upgrade or financial pressure.

Buying a tokunbo car is not a guaranteed peace. Some Nigerian used cars (bought new or tokunbo) will beat some tokunbos. All animals are not equal!

Indeed some Tokunbo cars are total scrap. For the fact that a car is Tokunbo doesn't guarantee peace of mind
