It shows
1. The both of u are truly married
2. U enjoy his benefits from work, insurance, etc
3. It reduces alot of confusion for people
4. Also shows you are a Christian and u love ur husband very much

It's quite expensive though so hold your money when you want to go thru this process

Very important

except you have a weak man
Re: D by etin06(m): 5:05pm On Apr 12, 2020
You mean after buying the long list and paying bride price the woman shouldn't take the husband's name? Nor let the men in he house hear am ooo cos they are not happy during marriage because of the money they spend.

On a serious note if a woman doesn't not bear her husband's name, it will be difficult for her to fill any form for her children as parent, she will have to accept been a guardian because of the variation in name. I witnessed one of recent when the woman is bring her husband father's name and the children is bearing her husband's name.

Also it will be hard for her to enjoy any benefits accrued to the husband.

If you don't want to answer your husband's name, then you should marry your father...
Only idiotic men will allow such nonsense...

It is not a big deal. It doesn't make you less married than you are.

Many bear their husbands names and are not faithful to that husband.

It doesn't guarantee a happy marriage and to be honest, it is the least of your worries in marriage.

It depends on the man tho, if he insists on it and feels it's his right, good, no big deal there. Some men don't care what name you bear as long as you're faithful, you love them and give them peace. It doesn't make the men weak.

What shall it profit the alpha male who insists his wife bears his name only to find out all his kids are not his?

We are NIGERIANS for God sake. If a woman isn't ready to accept a man's name let her remain single. Marriage isnt a must. We have millions of women ready to take a man's name at any given chance. And do u expect the children to also take my wife's surname? It can never work

Madam, even if a man bears a woman surname it doest mean she will be faithful or there will be happiness in the union. Marriage isnt a must. U cant eat ur cake and have it. Kindly answer this question sincerely : Are u using ur dad's surname or u mum's surname? Your answer will determine if we can have a conversation

Oga there is nothing like the so called Alpha Male to start with. A man that has started paternity test on first child is on a marriage that is about to hit the express road.
