Weight management involve weight gain or loss, overweight has its own side effects likewise underweight. The best way to manage your weight is through healthy eating and being physically active.In weight management, the knowledge of BMI (Body mass index) is important, Body mass index is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. A value less than 18.5 indicates underweight, 18.5-24.9(Normal), 25- 29.9(Overweight), 30-above(Obese).
There is nothing bad in gaining or losing weight but, there is a factor you must put into consideration “Healthy” i.e while trying to gain or lose weight, healthy steps must be taken.
10 healthy steps to be taken while losing weight

� Exercise more i.e Get active, cardio exercise preferably e.g Skipping, jogging, running on a spot, stair climber. They help to burn healthy fat.

�Eat breakfast high in protein then food rich in micronutrients can follow e.g vegetables, Fruits .

�Take water always

�Take note of what you eat, don’t just eat anything, choose your diet intentionally.

�When buying packed food, make use of nutritional food label so as to know the right food for you

�Avoid high fat diet, replace with whole carb, avoid refined carb e.g white bread, pizza, flour.

� Avoid starving yourself by skipping food, instead get a comprehensive nutritional diet plan. Starving is not the same as dieting.

�Eat little but a balanced diet

� Instead of fruit juice take whole fruit and more vegetables

�Cut down on sugar, fill up with fruit, veggies and fiber.

� Exercise more to build muscles, concentrate on your calves, butt, tigh, chest, triceps and biceps.

�Eat more often but healthy at least 5 meals a day. Increase your portion

�Get quality sleep and rest, stay away from stress

�Go for smoothies instead of fruit juice

� Increase carb intake and healthy fat intake, raise calorie consumption

�Eat enough protein

�Have a proper dinner

�Drink lot of water at least 8 – 10 glasses of water.

� Consume more milk products

�Enjoy snacks that contain plenty of protein and healthy carbohydrates and fats.

Remember weight loss or gain take time and require patience, commitment and discipline. It is a long term process which can take months and years. You need to stay persistent and motivated. In conclusion, what works for one person may not work for you. Our body chemistry is different, Don’t get discouraged. YOUR HEALTH IS YOUR WEALTH.
