Our correspondent gathered that the suspect, Mr. Olarewaju Atolagbe, was rumoured to have been killed in Otun-Ekiti during the recent by-election held to fill the Moba Constituency I seat at the Ekiti State House of Assembly.

But the Police Public Relations Officer in Ekiti State, Mr. Mohammed Jimoh, who confirmed the arrest of Atolagbe to our correspondent in a telephone in Ado-Ekiti on Sunday, said that the suspect was arrested because it was an offence to fake one's death.

He said that the suspect had been released on bail but he would be prosecuted if found guilty.

The PPRO said that the supposedly deceased was taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Ido-Ekiti but the police became suspicious because they could not find the traces of the man in the hospital.

Jimoh said that investigation carried out by the police showed that that the supposedly murdered man was actually in his house in Otun-Ekiti where he was arrested.

The PPRO said that the arrest of the suspect had vindicated the position of the command that nobody died during the recent by-election.

Meanwhile, the Onisan of Isan-Ekiti, Oba Sunday Ajiboye, has denied an allegation that Mr. Peter Oladosu, has been appointed as his Chief Security Officer.

The monarch who said this on Sunday described the allegation of Mr. Wale Ojo-Lanre, a Media Aide to former Governor Segun Oni as baseless.

He said that Oni's aide allegation was aimed at diverting attention from the alleged crime of gun-running committed by another Oni's aide.

He advised the police to intensify their investigation into the revelation made by robbery suspect arrested in Ido-Ekiti, which linked a personal assistance of Oni to a robbery gang.
