Following the passing away of Mallam Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff to the President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, feelers have it that the race for his replacement has commenced in earnest.

The move is said to be fast-tracked to avoid any vacuum in government especially with the enormity of the workload that the office of the Chief of Staff is handling.

All of the names said to be shortlisted are from the North East, the same region where the demised Chief of Staff hails from. They include:

*Alh. Babagana Kingibe, a former Secretary to the Government of the Federation;
*Mallam Isa Yuguda, a former governor of Bauchi state;
*Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, a former Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and
*Mallam Kashim Shettima, a former governor of Borno state.
