Ebonyi State Government has confirmed a C OVID 19 index case in the state. This was made known to the people by the state governor Dave Umahi during a state wide broadcast on April 26. According to him, the index case is a commercial vehicle operator from Ukawu in Onicha Local Government of the state who commutes food items to Ore in Ondo State and passengers back to Ebonyi. He said the index case was caught by the C OVID 19 taskforce team in Okposi Ohaozara after he manoeuvred his way through state boarder in Ivo alongside three others.
However, he was taken to Ebonyi Township Stadium where Ebonyians returning from other states are expected to wait until tests are concluded. After the tests, fortunately, only the driver's result came out positive. The other passengers came out negative. He has been isolated and the state is embarking on three hundred tests within two days on possible physical and otherwise contacts.
