10 Common Parts Of The Body We Got Their Name Wrong. by alwayssparkling: 7:25pm On Apr 30, 2020
I was working on one of my many uncompleted stories when my younger sister who had just rounded up secondary education threw a question at me. She asked me if I knew the name of the lines on my palm (those three or sometimes four lines). She smiled when I frowned, knowing she had gotten one over me. She told me the answer with a victorious smile.

This made me research on the human outer anatomy and I found out there were a lot of the human body parts I (and including most of you) got their names wrong or didn't even know their name at all. For example what you would likely call your leg is actually known as the lower limb and the part of the body that is actually the leg you will mistake for something else.

so let's check out ten common parts of the body you likely didn't know their correct name.

Palmar flexion creases: this are the visible lines in your palm.
They help in folding and stretching of the palm.

Arm: this is the part of the body that begins from the shoulder socket and ends at the elbow joint.

Forearm: this is the part of the body that begins at the elbow and ends at the wrist.

Hand: this is the part of the body that begins from wrist to every finger.

Upper limb: commonly mistaken as the hand, this is the part of the body that begin from the shoulder socket to the finger tips. It entails the arm, forearm and the hand.

Phalanges: This are the bones that makes up the fingers and the toes.

Thigh: Everybody know this I guess. This is the part of the body that begin from the pelvis joint to the knee joint.

Leg: This part of the body begin from the knee joint down to the ankle. The bone in this part of the part of the body is know as femur.

Foot: you should know this also. this part of the body entails everything from the ankle joint to the longest toe.

Lower limb: commonly mistaken for the leg, this part of the body entails everything from the thigh to the foot.

I hope this has been helpful.

Where did you get this info?

Your definition of ARM is wrong. Arm: https://www.google.com/amp/s/dictionary.cambridge.org/amp/english/arm?espv=1

The meaning of LEG is ambiguous, it can be used to refer to the entire limb or as per your definition the part of the limb that extends from the knee to the feet. Leg: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/leg

I think we are both right as it depends from where we are seeing it from. I did mention the human anatomy as the basis for for my definition. While the arm is equated as the upper limb in general definition, in human anatomy it is the area as defined in the article.
