Good evening everyone.... I have noticed (in the last two months) that my breath smells a lot even after brushing. I used to brush twice everyday (before the lockdown) and now (during the lock down), I brush about three or four times. But I still have a stinky breath . The worst part is that people around me always complain of foul odour whenever I'm eating, drinking water or even swallowing my saliva . My brother told me it smells like faeces. Please I need to know what this is and how I can cure it. I'm planning to go to the hospital for a proper check-up when I collect my salary this month end, as I have spent the little I had during the lock down. But month end seems too far because this issue is really affecting me now.

1. Drink a full glass of water first thing in the morning


2. Eat vegetables and fruits in much quantity daily


3. Go to a pharmacist get antibiotics and use the entire satchel as prescribed by the pharmacist.


4. Take plenty of water


5. Stay away from coffee, sugar and carbonated drinks for the next one month.


6. Twice daily apply salt and water mixture to rinse your entire mouth


7. Change your toothbrush


8. Start brushing your teeth twice daily for the next one month


9. Your toothpaste may need changing. Change to toothpaste in high fluoride like macleans and colgate


10. Visit a pharmacist. Buy NCP 800Naira and apply in cleaning your teeth/mouth twice daily




Do these things and watch out for changes


If it's not the mouth area problems, then it's the first signs of liver or kidney malfunction. As this is where foul odour comes from.

I recommend a visit to the hospital and discuss what I discussed above with your doctor especially with liver or kidney

He is right Google Halitosis. If it's not from your mouth then it's from your kidney or liver. This is a direct symptom of liver or kidney malfunction. That's where the smell usually come from in such case. If it's not the mouth area.

OP, do you also experience gum bleeding? Jist checking, but anyways, go see yoir dentist for teeth cleaning. Or if you have never done ir before you might need a deep cleaning.

It could be an internal problem from your kidney or liver. Go for body scan. Also use sensodyne toothpaste and mouth wash.

Then you probably need deep cleaning done anyways since you say you have terrible bad breath. You should get to yiur dentist and get it done soonest.
Technically you should have your teeth cleaned every 6 months so as to avoid even halitosis among other issues.

When I skip visits (say i go past the 6 months without a visit) i brush my teeth at least once a day with a special teeth powder i make from finely blending down egg shell and rice grains. I dip my wet tooth brush in the mixture each morning and then top it with whatever tooth paste i have.
The particles work well by getting in between my tooth to pull out as much plaqie as possible. It holds me over until I am able to finally make it to my next cleaning.

I strongly suspect infected tonsils. It's one of the reasons for very foul smelling breath that's not amenable to brushing, no matter how frequent.

Other possibilities include liver problems. Diabetes is also a known cause, though the breath is not usually unpleasant.

Bottom line, go for a proper checkup

It's caused by staphylococcus eurus. It has happened to my close friend. Visit the hospital, do the lab and get treated.
