You might want to take Burma off that list. My candid advise.

A mere change of name doesn't men that a country has ceased to exist. That it no longer exists by that name doesn't mean that it no longer exists as a country.

It's far bigger than just cooking up a list and this the sort of mistake that I see many sites making these days when compiling these sort of lists.

The Persian States of the 16th century- which is the Safavid Empire- did not stretch as far as the Mediterranean Sea.

3. Yugoslavia

Palestine no longer exist as a country, Israel have wiped them off the face of the map. Funny enough before 1945 there was no state of Israel on the world map. I still feel with them but Israel have to do what they did to exist. Some people are just too troublesome to live with, if other Arab nations, UN, US and Britain can help resettle them and give them their own territory there will be peace in that ME region.

5. KOREAComprising of the Korean peninsula.

North and South Korea were once one country.

6. NORTH YEMEN & SOUTH YEMEN

Yemen in 1967 Split into 2 countries ; North Yemen ( Yemeni arab republic ) and South Yemen ( The people’s Democratic Republic of Yemen ).

In 1990 , the two came together and formed a unified Yemen.

7. RHODESIA

Rhodesia , located in South Central Africa, is now divided into Zimbabawe and Zambia.

It was a self-declared independent nation from 1965 – 1979.

In 1980 , the world recognized its independence.

It later took on the name Zimbabwe.

8. ABYSSYNIAAbyssinia or The Ethiopian empire was a Kingdom in North east Africa.

In the 20th century ; it split into Eritrea and Ethiopia.

9. OTTOMANThe Ottoman/Turkish empire which included Turkey, Northern Africa, Parts of Russia,Hungary , the Balkans and Middle East began around the year 1300.

The Ottoman ceased to exist when Turkey declared independence from it in 1923.

10. TAIWANTaiwan was an independent country until 1950 , when China at the end of the Chinese civil war claimed sovereignty over them.
