Snakes are propably one of the useless animal on earth,no matter much you fed them, they will still try to hurt you, they are vacuous and can't be satisfied and i think it will be good you get rid of it than for the snake you called non-venomous snakes to be venomous to hurt you.

Op there are dogs and cats looking for shelter and a master to pet them. There are rabbits and even goats, turkey and chicken, even monkey!
But no you are busy rearing a deadly reptile that has no value.
Dog- security
Cat- cuddle
Rabbit - play
Goats, chicken and all- good food
Monkey- apprentice cheesy grin

But snake?

Finally, I was able to capture a snake alive without hurting it. Its still small, not more than 2 weeks old from the look of things.

The specie happens to be House brown snake, they are non-venomous snakes. You can confirm... Its day 2 with it. But just wondering where I can get pink mice or anything to feed her with. She's a female. I checked for that also.

Hope its not a bad idea?

Greatzeus:

Since it's non venomous, good way to go then. But such pets doesn't fit a normal African settings. We are not used to having snakes as pet. Imagine your parents coming over to your house and seeing a snake,I could bet they will refuse to sleep over in that house,no be African parents again? grin grin grin
I remember a documentary I watched on may Geo about people killed or almost killed by their pet. There's this girl who loves snakes so much, she had many snake pets and also license to keep them. She wanted to have a Gabon viper but the authority refused. She went to buy the viper and kept it illegally. She was bitten by the same viper and died cry
I watched that documentary too!
She was bitten by a gaboon viper, coughed blood all over the floor and died within minutes, clutching a note in her hand where she wrote the particular hospital she should be taken to if anyone found her in time.

So sad.

Never mind those saying trash.. The snake is harmless.

I watched the documentary about the girl and the gaboon viper 2 days ago on nat geo wild

Same here. She lived a quiet life and housed her snake in a caravan outside their house. Her gaboon viper escaped from its enclosure and whem she wanted to pick it up from under the chair, it bit her and she bled to death. She even dropped a note. Very creepy documentary

Dangerous play. Don't do this for fun. How about children in the house? Don't groom what may later consume you.
Re: My Pet Snake by Nobody: 10:02pm On May 14, 2020

Thank God you say the snake is still young. That means you still have time to change your mind and discard the snake before it realizes it's true destiny. Besides, there is actually no benefit from keeping a snake as pet in Africa as it will only scare people away from visiting you
