It is mostly found that the WiFi router placed behind the cupboard, wardrobe, or some obstacles that hinder its wireless network range. Another issue can be the old router model which doesn't have the endurance to tolerate your heavy workload.

But if you are having a Netgear EX6100 extender then it will worth your every single penny, if you wish to enhance the wireless network range and connectivity of your home WiFi router to every corner of your house or office. You have the option to use your Netgear EX6100 WiFi range extender as a WiFi extender or as an access point.

Installing the Netgear WiFi extender as an Access point is worthy in a large office area that has heavy network traffic. Small offices or homes do need a vast network so their Netgear extender setup would be the best option.

What is a Wireless Access Point?

You can easily set up a Netgear WiFi extender as an access point. All you need to connect your WiFi range extender via an Ethernet cable to your home WiFi router and configure it on the access point mode.

Basically, a wireless access point is a device that creates an extended wireless local area network. You can connect your Netgear WiFi extender to a wired router, switch or hub via an Ethernet cable, and projects a wireless signal in dead network spots.

Why Access Points are Better than WiFi Range Extenders?

For business purposes, no doubt the access points are better than WiFi range extenders. While wireless range extenders are great for local WiFi networks. The major reason behind this is because they can only support a limited number of network devices, nearly about 20 devices at one time. No questioning on the WiFi range extender's ability to increase the wireless router signal coverage, but they decrease the extended network bandwidth to 50 percent of the original.
