Mobilitynigeria's Tough Stand - Blackberry App World Now Opened To Nigeria by cattis: 10:56am On Jan 17, 2011
Last friday, Mr. Yomi Adegboye of MobilityNigeria went tough on smartphone makers who excluded Nigeria from purchasing applications on their app stores. This included RIM (blackberry), Apple, Samsung and Google. I quote him:

Here’s Mobility Nigeria’s official stand from now on – we will provide minimal coverage in terms of reviews of devices, apps and services whose makers do not provide official support for Nigeria. I am sorry, but this is irreversible.

iPhone, Windowsphone, Android and Blackberry users, we will support you, don’t worry. You will get just enough articles to help you get the best of your devices inspite of the official position of your device manufacturers. We will publish helpful articles, tips and hints, but we will certainly not publish announcements of new devices and/or services from those who snob us.

About 24 hours later, RIM changed their position and gave Nigeria access and sent a BB broadcast message out saying, "Blackberry appworld now available in Nigeria, download it, create a free account and enjoy unlimited access to applications on the App World"

MobilityNigeria later confirmed that they were now able to buy apps from BB AppWorld using Nigerian credit card. It is all over Twitter and more Nigerians are confirming that indeed they now have access to Blackberry's AppWorld.

I have been a fan of MobilityNigeria for years, but I didn't think they could pull something like this off. I salute!

Are you actually dumb enough to believe that a toothless threat by these fellows was enough to suddenly enable AppWorld access in Nigeria?

This is hilarious. Until a Nigerian carrier starts carrying the iPhone, there will be no Nigerian iTunes store.

I find this piece pretty hilarious, first off; no one can say for sure if it was Mobility's threat that made RIM grant Nigeria access to its Blackberry app world. Secondly, RIM didn't send any broadcast. In the future please do your research properly before you embarrass a nation of highly educated people. I was the originator of the alleged broadcast: Day- Saturday 15th January, Time- 21:52.

Blah ! Blah !!

What have any of you guys done to help bring awareness to these issues ?

It's so easy to sit down at home and criticize mobility nigeria. Even if Mobility Nigeria was not responsible for making RIM allow Nigerian users access to the Blackberry App World, they should be commended for at least drawing attention to it instead of hounding them the way texazz and co are doing. Go and open your website if you can do better before you criticize others.

I really don't understand what you guys are saying here cos I just tried buying app from BB world and I still cannot. or could this be a GTBank problem cos I use a GTBank mastercard. Also I use a Z10, is it that this hasn't been implemented on the BB 10 OS platform?

No doubt Mobility being run by Mr Yomi Adegboye is at the forefront of enlightenment in the mobile world. His reviews of mobile phone and gadget are unequal in the world wide web space. He is also a force to be reckoned with.
Also Mr Mo command a lot of follower on his Mobility Blackberry group people like Mr Jide Ogunsanya owner of ogbonge.com, Dr. Udegbunam Chukwudi also a popular owner of a popular blog. Ogbona a naval rating office and so many intelligesia when it come to mobile phone tablet and gadget.
The best thing to do is to visit www.mobility.com and access very thoughtful and deep insight write up on almost all high end phones and gadget.
