Catalyst Missing On Honda Accord 07 / Honda Accord 07 (dc) Or Nissan Altima 06 / Honda Accord 07 Vs Honda Civic 07 Review (2) (3) (4)
Accord 07 (DC) Repairs by calabaman(m): 6:31pm On May 26, 2020 |
Good evening everyone, So I purchased this naija used DC two weeks ago and after use for two weeks I noticed the following issues and need our advice: - Catalyst converter is absent ( car sucks fuel FAST) - Brake disc appears bad as brake pedal vibrates when pressed whilst on speed - Engine and gear mount are gone - Brake pedal appears to go down whilst pressed, but removing the leg and pressing it again ensures it catches. - When raising the engine it appears one of the plugs is misfiring. - Car battery is BAD ***Discussed this with mech on my street, who said:*** - Engine and gear mount is 7k and 5k respectively (new from Oladipo), workmanship to change this: 3k - No idea of brake disc and wants to involve a master brake technician - the Honda misfire is normal, that DC usually fires (when marching throttle) that way - no idea of Honda catalyst cost =========================================== Want to use said car for taxify (pointless telling me about the downside of using DC for taxify, already weighed my options)...however I dont want to spend much on these repairs. What's our advice. Thinking of just driving said car to Oladipo and do buy n fix. CC Tpound CC gazzuzz 1 Like |

calabaman: Whatever you do, leave the catalyst alone. It’s not responsible for your fuel consumption. 6 Likes |

TPound: Thanks Boss. But, which is preferable.... New or fairly used? |

chillex8: ^^^ Thanks @chillex8 What could be responsible? Its a 4-plug engine |

calabaman:From your symptoms, a misfire would definitely be responsible for poor mpg. Why not run an obd2 diagnosis before throwing money on repairs/parts. 3 Likes |

calabaman: New engine mounts would reduce vibration not totally eradicate it and the mounts won't last upto 6 months. But tokunbo mounts would last year's if your mechanic knows what he is doing 1 Like |

Which of the catalyst is missing? The one on the manifold on the engine or the one under the car? Your misfire is most likely the cause of the high fuel consumption. And if you say it consumes fuel, what's your kilometer per litre? Make u no go use corolla or micra consumption dey measure accord DC consumption. Use Tokunbo mounts as has been advised Unless you can afford OEM. 1 Like |

9icetoo: Thank you. How can I confirm that it is OEM the mechanic buys? The mechanic is a stone throw from my house and I want to use him. Also, yesterday morning I wanted to drive out and noticed the gear lever refused to move....its stuck in park. What could be the cause as the ATF is still there. #naija used cars tho.... |
Re: Accord 07 (DC) Repairs by 9icetoo(m): 1:40pm On May 29, 2020 |
calabaman:I can't confirm what OEM looks like. Never bought one before. But it won't be cheap. I suggest you look up luvvinhubby on Nairaland. He sells Honda parts and should be able to guide you on that. As per the gear lever being stuck in park, check your brake switch, confirm your battery still has enough juice. If the two above are correct, try inserting something in the slot beside the gear. That should free up the gear. Then check your transmission range switch. Your mechanic should be able to get the car out of park though. He will know all I mentioned above. Naija used cars are hit and miss. Often miss. 3 Likes |

awesomely:I love this. Most times, if you get a naija used car, u just have to work for the car. |
Re: Accord 07 (DC) Repairs by awesomely: 12:18pm On Jun 12, 2020 |
chukel: LOL. The thing is most car owners abuse their cars and when issue starts, they get rid of the car to unsuspecting buyers at ridiculous price. |
Re: Accord 07 (DC) Repairs by chukel(m): 12:29pm On Jun 12, 2020 |
awesomely:exactly. Most who take care of their cars appropriately do not sell off with ease. When they do, it doesn't come cheap. 3 Likes |
