I'm an introvert, I work from home as an IT consultant to some start-ups abroad, every dime I make happens from the comfort of my home. Sometime last year I decided to relocate and set up a workspace to increase my productivity. I decided a 3 bedroom would be perfect for me, a room for my home office, anther for myself (Not married) and the other for my kid brother. Turned out my brother relocated to Lagos after about 2 months, so it's just me and my girlfriend who comes to visit occasionally and spends some weeks.

I don't really have friends, but I regularly go to the park or shopping mall and other places during the evening times just to see people and ease my mind but with Covid-19 and the evening curfew that's not possible any longer. The interstate ban won't let my girlfriend or some closest friends come see me too. All alone all day, a typical day starts and ends in front of a computer screen, nothing else. No one to spend some physical time with, It's been like 3 months I last hugged someone! All throughout today ave been so angry at everything, so angry I began punching the wall without feeling pains until now. They say it's self-harm but I'm just trying to ease my frustration and I really don't care if it helps.

Depression and anxiety are becoming a thing for me, I get heart palpitations every single day, things that used to make me happy suddenly don't make any sense to me anymore. I don't like the person I'm becoming. I honestly think the lockdown, interstate ban, social distancing, curfew, etc is having a negative impact on people's psychological health. I just pray it ends soon, I really do.

Oh so money is not your problem, you can't find friends in church or mosque or a club even if you are not religious simply go to the gym

If you want to make friends and you are not friendly, whose fault is it?

Listen, stop deceiving yourself. You are going paranoid because you don't have a life.

Girlfriend is not a life even if she becomes your wife

Closest friends will have to leave to focus on their own lives someday.

So wise up and be a man.
Go out there and make friends, lockdown has nothing to do with it.

Welcome to adulthood= the art of enjoying your own company alone.

I have a Ps4 console I used to enjoy playing it but not anymore. It just sits here in dust, things that I used to find pleasure in suddenly doesn't make any sense. If and when I decide to play it, I get angry after losing and turn it off. It also gets boring pretty quickly. As for the work aspect, it's strictly based of recommendations. I did a job for an IT manager with a company in the UK, he loved it, added me to their pay check, recommended me to some other people, that's the long story.

OK then it means you might have to take control of basically all of your 16 hr per day .
you already have the time for aerobics
you will have to include social calls and discussion with friends, relations etc
then you will have to create another time for games as someone suggested
anything to keep your mind busy

I'd have been in your shoes, thank God I travelled to see family before the interstate travel ban was introduced.

What you should do?

Read novels, watch movies - series (as a remote guy, data shouldn't be a problem), do a lot of video calls with bae and family members, exercise, take a walk, meet people, talk to them, comment more on Nairaland, find a new hobby.

Don't allow yourself get soaked into the boredom.

Thanks, I think movies can help because I hardly watch movies but when I do easily get connected and find myself lost in the moment.

It goes beyond just doing aerobics at home, you need to go for long walks in the evening so you can have an opportunity to leave the house

I used to do so but with the curfew, I don't have much time. Things are really different now than they used to be.

What I do?
Daily Heavy exercises,
Music Non-stop,
And some good food always helps out.
Take a stroll early in the morning sunshine & evening also if you can or even around your yard.
Then Take time to video call with your folks & loved ones.

For someone who claims to be an introvert, I think all these is mostly psychological. Cos we invent creative ways to keep ourselves busy.
I can go for months without going outside with no problems although this is balanced with months I just go travelling around on a kinda tour. You might want to take a break from your normal routine and do the latter. Live is meant to be lived. No be money money every time.

Thanks for your input, exercise does help but shortly after it continues. I'm taking anti depressant ( Atenolol) now, since it's a beta blocker the heart palpitations stopped. I'm worried about the side effects even though I haven't experienced any yet aside no sex drive or morning erections, I believe the side effects will wear out when I stop taking it in 8 days.
