How can I prevent parvo?
previously I lost my Caucasian and rott to parvo 8 and 5 months respectively.
I got a Lhasa after some months and she died of parvo
pls what are the precautions to take

1. Take care of your environment (clean)
2. Avoid feeding dogs with lots of flys around
3. Always removed unfinished food from them( it attracts fly and germs), preferably feed at night.
4. Keep your dog away from other dogs (parvo is highly contagious).
5. Another tricky one is, Owners can transmit to them too.. have a separate footwear you use around them. When you go out, you step on lots of dirty things, you come home And go to their cage with it... not safe.

the rott was calm and protective,
the Caucasian was the opposite (very territorial).

modified:
I wanted a gsd but they bark a lot and I don't want to disturb my Co-tenant,
work won't allow me focus on a Caucasian (I don't like a dog fur tangled and they shed a lot )
so I read more on boerboel, they hardly bark, calm and protective.
I just want a balance dog not an aggressive dog.

I think some dogs are prone to parvo..I trained and sold dogs from 1998 till 2016, so I have some experience on digs..GSDs are less likely to suffer or die from parvo when compared to Rotts and mastiffs...I never lost a GSD to parvo..but then again I took their vaccines seriously..
True.

Diary from a dog's point of view? You don't mean it?

You turn yourself to dog, just to fit into the cruze of some white folks?
Wetin Oyinbo no go cause.
I also like dogs a lot, I like cute animals, even goats. So I'm not an animal hater.
The only thing is that animal is animal and it stays like that for me, when people now turn dogs to their precious firstborn child, that is the point where I make sure the boundary between a child and a dog is well defined.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I'll be advising you professionally as a veterinarian so to prevent further losses. First of all, I must be candid with you, vaccines are not 100% reliable in preventing parvo (for reasons to be discussed another day), in most of the parvo cases I have handled, the owners showed evidence of vaccination from reputable sources. Some of the precautions you can take include some already stated in this thread which are; breed selection (some dog breeds are more susceptible to parvo than others), Know the season of the year when parvo is prevalent which is usually wet season June/July downwards (in the north). During this season be extra careful on what your dog eats and more emphasis should be laid on hygiene during this period, Also during this period give feed rich in vitamins and also give multivitamins supplements in order to boost the dog's immune system. The truth is that PARVOVIRUS ENTERITIS is self limiting (it goes by itself) and its NOT CURABLE (Like common cold), you can only manage the symptoms till the virus runs it course, that is why the standard practise of most veterinarians is to administer fluid therapy (to mange fluid losses from vomiting and diarrhea) and antibiotics (for secondary bacterial infection). I hope I've been able to assist I'm my own little way. If you have any further question, you can follow this link "Ask a veterinarian" on nairaland hopefully you questions would be elaborated on....!!!

and others - Yuguda
10. The president asked me to change N10B to foreign
currency for PDP delegates - Dasuki

account officer.
12. I got order from above to pay Tompolo N13B for Maritime

With all this looting and many more revealed, some people are
still shouting no sign of change yet, they even say it's political
persecution.
But I believe, it is the right thing to do.
There must be consequences for such crimes otherwise
Nigeria will not develop.

That keke nappe man should disinfect that seat because it is for the public use. saliva everywhere on a public seat. The dog owner should put a dog mask on it next time, very unpleasant to see.

main reason why I had to relocate before purchasing Thor.
heard the virus will still live in the compound that's why my Lhasa couldn't survive it.
although I have a Lhasa presently with me who survived parvo
